31" tall at minimum.... that's still pretty tall but the 18 1/2 to the front from fp isn't bad. Thanks Brian great update! Hope you get your reducer and get to abusing that thing

I think they have hit on something big, letting potential stove buyers design their own stove.. This should get very interesting as to what people come up with..

Hey Brian, since we all have a lot of questions about the stove and are looking for details, just invite the group over for Thanksgiving dinner. Let me know what covered dish to bring.

Really though, great job on getting us the intel on the stove.

Notice the slots at the top of the leg covers and in the sides of the stove top itself. This is a radiant stove but these legs and slots are designed to create convection.

Funny, it is a 3.25 cu ft firebox, but the pics make it look kind of small.

Good to hear your home is in the same boat as mine in terms of it being older and under insulated. (not that that is actually "good", but for comparing situations, it helps)

I tried to lure Ben the cat into the firebox to give a sense of size, but he bolted when I grabbed the camera

Wow, you either have a REALLY small head, or that hat puts things in a little more perspective. Got a case a beer you could put in there? Bart would always do that with the 30.

Put a can of tuna in the stove! Cat should jump right in.

Standard size ball cap for my (big) head. The firebox is huge compared to our Fireview.

I got the distinct impression from Tom when I was in DC that the burn times on the Ideal Steel are going to be quite satisfactory, and a good bit more than the Progress, which is a good bit more than my Fireview.

He wouldn't give an estimate, but essentially said, "Just wait and see..." with a twinkle in his eye.

I think your home will be a good test and comparison for my home. If you are loading it up full, and you have a little more control over it than the Progress, and it gives you usable heat in the 20 hour range, that's what I'm looking for.

I think its the stoves height that makes up for the depth. It looks like a super tall firebox so you should get a really nice show with that large viewing window

Very Harley-Davidson of them, get your bike and then customize the hell out of it:), would be a beotch to ride your stove to the local watering hole though:D

That's funny , as I worked as a tech for a Harley Dealer for like 10 years. Yup, now you can customize your new Harley right from the factory. I can see some nice V-Twin motors water jetted onto the side panels that cover the legs.. A couple of old school kick start arms and pedals for andirons behind the glass.. Some rear belt drive pulleys for the top of the stove. The themes will be endless and some will be well thought out mind blowing themes I'm thinking! People won't just be getting a stove, they'll be getting a keep sake.. Woodstock turned a metal box into a personal work of art! They are very clever people how they think outside the box! Sadly I'm thinking they are going to be pressed to keep up with the demand... Really nice thing, you can always change your theme by getting new parts! You ever sell your stove, the next person can add his own personal theme... I can see a couple of hatchets for some Andirons :)

I wasn't really thinking of a Harley themed stove...but whatever floats your boat

I want to know what the options are for the legs? Can they be a different shape?

I'd bet that if you request it they'll build it any way you want it.

We get our wheelchairs customised from the factory as well. Invacare and Sunrise are really good about that.
