Then any replacement part is essentially off the shelf and can be easily sourced....and most parts are "inexpensive".

I would make sure of what they have. The AE came out in 2006 as that is the year stove I have. I don't think they made any non AE Mt. Vernons in 06, but I could be wrong. Main thing to check for is if there is a plastic hopper in the stove. If there is, it is an AE, and will only run with matching thermostat. Let us know. kap

    That amount for both?

The early Mt Vernon is a solid stove. As long as it works and the Santa Fe comes with it for that price? I'd buy both tomorrow.

The later Mt Vernon AE is a great stove, but has had a few issues with auto clean. It may be the owners that were at fault because of the carbon that builds up on the bottom slide plate. A lot of owners don't do regular maintenance like the forum members here. Those here that have them? Love them. But Non AE or AE are great stoves that were over $3,500 new

The AE had a lot of "teething" pains when it first came out. If this stove didn't have the updates that were needed, it will cost a lot to bring it up to date. Lots of dealers didn't take care of their customers, and a lot of stoves didn't get updates. One of which was not enough power on the return stoke of the auto clean. kap

Did they have the manuals for them? If not, I would try and download them off the Quad site. kap

I have read that. But once he said it was a slide thermostat?
I knew it wasn't an AE.

That's the standard stat for all Quads.

I see what you are saying about the updates. Point taken

Finally had time to get it installed.
Finally had time to install it. Wife doesn't want it around during the off season,so I made a replacement window for my double hung. I did this before when I had a stove on my main floor. This one is in the walkout across from the stairs going up to the main floor.

Your curtains look to be a tad too close.
