So this morning I stopped at my local Stihl dealer to hoard some 2 cycle oil, and got talking to the owner, which is high school buddies with my uncle. He mentioned stuff being sold on eBay and Amazon. I said I was thinking about a spare saw, but was leary about buying something I didn't know who had it. He tells me about a 271 farm boss he just got in. The old guy who had it can't use it anymore. Darn near brand new, not a scratch on it or the bar. Wants 329 for it. I hem and hah, he goes to 300. But it has a 18 inch bar. I run a 20 inch on my 271, and would like to use all the same chains. He offers to toss in a 20 inch bar at cost, $31. I was hesitant on telling the wife, but....it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission. She knows I was looking for a spare. Welcome to the family new little buddy.
Nice !! I just picked up another saw myself and haven't told the wife either but honestly she wouldn't care. I'll just put in with the rest of my saws and she'll never know. LOL I just look at it this way. Either I give that money to the oil man or use the money to buy a saw so we can burn wood and not have to pay the oil man. Either way the money goes towards the heating bill. You decide.
My wife doesn’t pay much attention to my saws. After you get about so many, & keep em all the same color they’ll never notice one or two new ones
Yeah........that works for the first 20 or so saws but then they get wise. Now I just buy "saw parts " implying I'm just fixing up stuff I have. Sometimes it just works out to be a rather complete kit of parts.
I just put in new crank seals on my Stihl MS460. Running great again. It was like having an old buddy back again and I wanted it for when summer time gets here and cutting in the mountains starts up again.
