You never get under a suspended item without stands or blocking...I usually like to have at least 2 layers of safety too, like blocks/stands and maybe leave the floor jack under too, just for example. That, and I try to not put my body any further in risk than necessary like in this scenario, changing blades, my body doesn't go under, just my arms. That way if the mower falls, I already have the deck up in the transport position, so even though it might still hurt, its not likely I would be pinned underneath

A friend of my wife lost her husband when jack stands kicked out. About a month after I was doing brakes on daughter's car. Had it on jack stands, a floor jack and stacked some old tires with rims under it. Wife was still nervous.
We used to jack up one end of a railcar to change out a wheel set, or some other repair. We used various jacks, sill jacks or black jacks (electric bottle jacks on steriods). Empty railcars can weigh 150,000. Rolling the truck back under the car body involved hooking up brake rigging, which meant putting body parts in pinch points. That was hairy.
