You have to put them in ditch to to get proper drainage.

The fact that most of the trees I this particular draw/ditch are getting taken out is the uncles reason for being an azz. There are 6 total owners & the others wanted the pond & he didn’t.

He doesn’t understand how the pool area is going to be formed & how many trees are going taken out. I would not want to be the dozer ops when they start working on the pond. It’s a guberment funded pond & they don’t let you leave trees in the pool area.

That's a great score of an assortment of wood. From SS to heavy hitters, it's all covered. Hard to beat that smorgasboard!

I’m sure they’ll test the ground to make sure it will hold water?
Years ago was on a construction crew that responded to a customer’s wish for a pond on his big hunting property locally. Company owner seemingly never checked the soil… lotsa clearing/grading, standpipe and dam… the feeder stream filled it up nicely.
2 days later that new pond was a stream down the center of a giant, empty, graded bowl.

Doubtful. I have a government funded "pond" at the front of my property that's nothing more than an overflow for a nearby lake. Supposedly the builder of this house and the neighbor went in together back in the late 50s early 60s. Whenever the gov would pay for ponds to be put in. Dug it out between both properties. Owners son said it held water for a couple years. Needless to say.... it's empty most of the time now.

No reason to test the ground, they will strip it down to clay & if they don’t hit clay they will strip topsoil some where to find clay & move it in to line it.

My buddy just had a couple guberment funded ponds built one was around 17’ deep & the other was around 12’.

I got most of my saw logs hauled to the piles today, all that’s left to move is the HVBW. So here are some pictures of my haul from this project.

I need to get the HVBW to the processing area, then I will start cutting fence posts from this job so I can send the LLC a bill for them; generate some $$$. Once the weather cooperates I will try to start c/s/s if we aren’t into planting season.

I have some other Oak down but it can wait until a later date.

There's a farm near here that dammed up a valley when I was a kid...it never held water...they finally filled it in now.

Here was the first load of Cherry this morning, I have a friend that let me use his 1 ton dually & 35’ flatbed. I am using my brothers track loader to unload with & an uncles track loader to load with. These things have made life much simpler.

What a great area for stacks! I’m sure they get plenty of sun and wind in that location.

Lots of wind & sun at both locations, probably more wind & sun at the Honey Locust & Walnut area since it’s on top of a ridge.

You have to be a landowner & go to the NRCS Office to see if they have funding available & if so when the sign up period is. You may have to check with them periodically to see when funds are available, it’s a cost share type of thing. If I remember correctly 75/25. It may vary depending on the pond size & where you are located.

I should be good to go on pallets for this round, I scored a bunch of oak pallets from my buddy & my son brought me a few plastic ones.

The 18 largest oak pallets are all 42” x 54” they work great for triple stacks.

I have been shuffling/adjusting stacks to
accommodate this new round of splits & replace some older rotten pallets.
