Depends was there a sparky bucket hanging from the vent? If so they should have used 10" x 1/2" lag bolts to secure to the vinyl siding. One can not be sure of flimsy little screws being able to handle the job properly.:doh::picard::headbang:

Been thinking about this a bit since first reading the thread.

After going over the two Whitfields we recently picked up as backups, and all the garbage I found in them, it seems that there are waaaaaay more peddlers of Hash jobs than one might think.

How do these types of garbage installs influence disasters like in home fires, CO poisonings, and other issues ??????

We have discussed briefly the concerns of some about "modifying" a stove to make it better, and then this sort of stuff pops up.

I go beyond anal when it comes to my stoves, and that includes cleaning and such too.

There is a line that is never to be crossed, and then we see what a "professional install is all about"

Very obvious that many "professionals" do not have their work inspected.

This sort of thing is the reason that we have to put up with those nasty little Dweeb inspectors that always seem to have an attitude issue.

I agree.....the install actually looks OK other than the NEW elbow. Don't think the installer should get crucified for this one.

EDIT: Now that I read down farther in the thread, attaching the thimble & outdoor piping into vinyl...........I might be re-thinking the "professional" install.

Then again, is there any proof that he had it installed by someone else?? Always easy to blame others.

Considering i had to completely remove the complete vent and wall thimble. He actually started to try and take the thimble off the wall as i stood there and he had absolutely no clue how it came apart. Along With the stove as dirty as it was i do not believe he installed this himself. He did not seem very mechanically inclined.
As for the the elbow and the appliance adapter being a different color i see that as matching the color to the stove. The greyish pipe wwnt with the color of the house. All parts are stickered within a year diff in man date.
I really do not know for sure but with dealing with the guy i tend to believe him when he told me he bought it new and had it installed by pros.

We will probably never get to the bottom of this or someone to confess but man I'm forever grateful it's not operating in those conditions any more:yes:

Yup. The fan speed is tied to the heat setting.

A while back we had to get a new pump installed in the well, and I am not set up to handle pulling 800 feet of pipe, wire and such.

The crew arrives on time and the oldest member of the crew is 21 yo :faint:

    OMG

I was all over these kids every step of the way.

Shagging tools, watching their every move.

During the reinstall I ran the hoist on the truck as one of their crew had to leave.

All went well and the kids learned a few valuable lessons during the process.

CHECK, RECHECK, THEN BE VERY SURE IT'S RIGHT.

You don't get any second chances when lowering pipe down an 800 foot hole.
One screw up can be catastrophic, and costly.

But the boys gotta learn, and what better way than hands on.

    Yup, watch, watch ,watch

Ahhh just wondered. There was a dealer near me not too long ago that sold Enviro. The work looked familiar.

yea, I dunno.....because of the fact that the pipe is different, and the fact that I am licensed to do the work and obviously biased, it looks like an after-the-install modification. Can see it now....homeowner trying to take pipe off...wont come off....try harder....maybe I can stick this screwdriver into the joint and pry it off....geez...look what I did....well, I can stuff it back in there, should be fine....dont wanna admit to it.......thats how it was installed...yea, thats the ticket! blame someone else.
