    I don't remember if it worked or not, someone here ended up having condensation problems. I think he insulated the OAK.

    I heard that it doesn't get condensation inside the pipe just the outside of the pipe in the house because of the warm air.
    is that true?
    should I worry about condensation on the pipe?

    T, I believe that is correct just put a aluminum brownie pan under the pipe to catch the water as it drips off the pipe .

    I would wait and see first, atleast its correctly connected now! I have never had any condensation. If infact your misled installers did that on purpose and you do have condensation, will's post above sounds like an easy solution :)

    It seems like that also fixed the woofing.
    and I called him on that a month after I got the stove.
    wants to make a sale but no good after the sale.

    That's surprising with the cold temps you've had. Everytime (everyday lately) we get close to or below 0 my OAK frosts over hard. The entire length of it is white.

    My upstairs stove oak frosted over hard,first 2-3 inches,when it was -15.Just threw a rag under it.Soon as it got 0 went away.I can live with that.

    I am sure my situation is unique, just like everone's situation is different...(very low humidity, and OAK that feeds from an almost enclosed porch, but even at -33* I have not seen any. My OAK in insulated too. Not sure if it would have had condensation if it was not insulated with the extreme temperature differences between outside and inside? That being said I struggle to keep the humidity in here above 20%.

    Still think he should not worry until *if* it happens :)

    Sub, do you get condensation?

    Not sure what you mean. The condensation we're all referring to is the frosting of our OAK's and yes, like mentioned above, I do get it. If you're referring to inside the pipe, I don't know, I've never checked it.

    Yes, condensation on the outside of the OAK. Like an iced tea glass in the summer dripping on the table. We are on the same page :) I just wanted to explain in my last post that we have extremely dry air inside that may reduce any condensation on the OAK :thumbs:

    I like to make sure the pipe is removable so I can easily check the intake damper if problems should arise.....I like a radiator hose clamp there......don't like tape OR RTV

    the Harman OAK has insulation...DO NOT insulate it......by putting insulation in there, you can obstruct the flow of intake air AND cause heat buildup. DO NOT modify the thimble.

    its a relative humidity thing.....since your air is so dry, takes VERY low temps to get condensation.....heck, you guys have sublimation out there....snow can go from a solid to a gaseous form without ever entering the liquid state.......something I am jealous of.
