Outstanding- thanks! I know my stove has them also because I can see the holes bored into the wood in front of them but for the life of me, I could not find them the other day with my hands. I think I might have been looking more toward the ends of the angle iron. Whatever it was, I missed them entirely. Thanks for the info. and photos Brian.

We're slowly getting closer to first fire. The elevated hearth is under construction now, still have to finish the platform, add the cement board and place the tiles.

Has anyone run the stove with the radiator farthest forward in its slots? The way my radiator feet are cut, it can sit in the sled slots frontward, rearward or anywhere between. There's a difference of 1" between front & rear locations. With sled closed, with radiator slid to the back, the front edge of the cat is exposed but with radiator positioned front-most the cat is completely covered by the radiator. The sled and radiator clear the stove top either way. Wondering if most users are operating with the radiator rear-most, causing cat heat to exit in front of the radiator and making the stove front so much hotter than the stove top? Thoughts?

I'm not quite sure where mine is set, I'll have to take a look. Thats a good question. I only use the stove front (near the cat therm portal) for stove temps. Where do you read stove top temps from and what numbers are you getting?

Just an FYI, I'm running a full load of red oak tonight and I'm on notch 2 with the cat engaged.
I started this load out like any other load, heating up the firebox enough to engage the cat and then
closing the air damper to notch 4. At notch 4 for about 30 mins the heat was really blasting us out.
Pinned the cat therm at 2000 deg, stove front temp was 475 and flue was 350. wood definitely matters!

I called Woodstock today about my IS.
Kind of worrying what the issues discussed in the letter was going to my delivery date.
Talked to Mike, the January 19th ship date is still on.
Starting to get psyched about my new stove.

I, along with the other IS folks here, can probably tell you that it's definitey worth the wait.
    Fingers crossed :)

OK guys with the cat temp probe. Where did you buy this and how did you modify it? I'm getting a little tired of the guess work.

Could we lay out an agreeable design for this that could be used as a pattern for others? Maybe it is worthy of a new thread.

I also noticed how much wood matters. I switched from cherry to hackberry. Wow! It's amazing how much longer those temps stay up. It handled cherry like a champ, but if you feed this thing premium it will blow your mind.

Got an email the other day.....
coachschaller's stove is on the way.....

One problem, delivery date was expected on the 31st when the business I was shipping to is closed. However, I called the shipping company after tracking the stove. It is getting ready to load at a depot 30 minutes from me. I will just get the wood hauler out to the depot and pick it up tonight. I have arranged for a few fellows to help install and schlep the old one out on the 1st. Pics to come....

The Mrs. just got me new batteries for the camera. I might give it to my daughter to take some pictures.
Anyway, I have a 740 pound crate in my truck right now. I might open up the crate tonight just to get a peek.

Ha!!!! I loaded my Lopi last night and woke this morning to a 65-62 F house. I threw on two rounds and a split and within an hour they were down to coals. Looking forward to using less wood!

I seem to be having a hard time burning the coals down in my I.S.. The stove burns extremely well and I am quite happy with it overall but once the actual wood is consumed, output temps. drop well down. Opening the draft helps but does not bring the stove up to enough heat output for anything like an overnight burn, and I cannot put enough additional wood in the stove to last either. In other words, the stove ends up sorta' clogged with a very dense bed of coals that just will not burn fast enough. I rake them forward and they heat up for a while but then a coating of ash basically shuts the burn down again. So for you folks that need a lot of heat output for extended periods, how do you burn the coals down and out of the way? There are people using these stoves and pushing a lot more wood through them and generating far more heat than I need- how do you hasten the coal burning cycle?

Hope you don't mind me asking but what is your moisture content of your wood?
