Mrs TD likes putting one gallon of water in the pot at a time.
Then it boils dry leaving more and more lime deposits till the pan is coated nice and thick. As the last 1/4" of water boils off, it forms a crust that boils and bubbles. The bubbles pop and shoot specks of white goo all over.

The insulated floor protection is 6” from the sides and rear and 16” from the loading door with an r value of 0.41 or greater.

The side clearance to cumbustibles is actually 19” reducible to as low as 12” with proper construction and air gaps. With only 6” of air gap, the construction of that masonry and any combustibles within it is going to be critical.

Just talked to Donna today and my stove should be shipping out this week!!
She also said they have now gone with one grate design and all ideal steels come with the same bigger slotted grate that the Absolute steel has.

    Congrats!

I believe the grate design change was made 2+ years ago, or is there a newer third grate?

Congrats! Best of luck with the stove and I hope you like yours as much as most of us seem to (and I know I do) like ours.

As far as I know, there are only the two grates, the original supplied with the I.S. and the second, identical but with bigger slots supplied with the A.S. I ordered the later grate for my I.S. but then cancelled that order when they actually went into production and were only about 1/16" wider slots than the I.S. They may have changed them again though, and I too would be interested in hearing about a grate that fits and I.S. but has slots at least 1/8" or better, 3/16" wider.

We picked ours up Monday after Easter 2016, so a bit less than 2 years ago and I am pretty sure we have the larger slits compared to the beta and early production stoves. I’d pull out the calipers and measure, but it is a little warm in there at the moment.

Hey stumplifter you are the first one to ever get the reference...Double Nickels on the Dime - best album ever! I don't play bass, but if I did, I'd want to play like D. Boon.

Ah that explains why Donna was a little confused when I asked her about it then.

Very nice, and the best of luck with it. I think you will be happy with the stove and will enjoy many hours of heat from it as well as enjoy using and looking at it.

    A nice install too IMO.

    Looks great....

How many inches out does the side rack protrude from side 'leg shield'?
Thinking of getting one but have limited space.
