    Stephie,
Is your thermometer an actual probe for the cat? Or, is it just a magnetic thermometer that you put near the cat?

For now, it's just my old magnetic. I have theirs on the vent collar. Nothing in my double wall black pipe.

With all the pics coming in of first fires I figured I'd post one of the IS I stripped down tonight. I always seem to be going against the grain. :loco:  image.jpg

It will be the same as I have now but shorter. About 18 ft from the top of the stove. 15 ft of class A.

It's getting chilly here but we weren't ready for a first fire of the season. We bumped the natural gas furnace thermometer up a little yesterday to take the chill off. Today it was colder in the house than yesterday (59• in the bedroom) but I could hear the water pump on the furnace running so something obviously wasn't right. I went downstairs to check and the furnace was generating no heat whatsoever.

I called our plumber/HVAC guy and he is going to come out Monday morning to check it out. He has admired our Ideal Steel on a number of occasions so he said, "Just fire up your wood stove till Monday to keep the chill off."

I pulled all our stuff out of storage and my wife and I built a fire late this afternoon. This is when it's really nice to have a great wood stove and lots of seasoned wood.

I'm one piece short, on a double wall pipe install, to get this IS running again. The last piece is the expensive one, so I'm shopping around. I should have it this week.
