I took everything out including the firebricks. I probably shaved 200 lbs off it. By the time I was done it was lighter than my Quadra fire. Me and a buddy lifted it right up and brought it in. It was easy to disassemble and put back together. Although, it was time consuming.

Galaxy S4 active. They were taken with the phone held upright. My gallery shows them upright.

I am thoroughly impressed. I'm seeing about 450 degrees in front of the cat, a dark box, and no visible smoke coming out of the chimney. I don't think I will be missing the Quadra-fire this winter .

The heat output on the top and front is very impressive. The soapstone sides are barely touchable.

Nice! What type of wood and how much did you load it up with today? I assume where you placed your tempreture gauge is where the cat is expelling all it's heat so that area of the stove should read higher than let's say top near the stove pipe? I've heard that comment before about the front and glass radiating a good deal of heat. Where do you have your air setting set for this burn?

I'll be curious what you think about the wood consumption versus your 4300? I really like your cabin theme too. :)

Are you cooking yourself out of the house yet? :dennis: It's 75 and sunny here.

JA, your making my mouth water too. I won't say I'm jealous cuz I know mine will be here shortly but I am enjoying what I'm seeing and hearing so far.
How long to get 500 deg to fire off the cat?
What kind of wood were you using for the break in fire?

This is hardly a good way to really test the stove out. It's about 75 and breezy here. Every door and window are open. The paint curing set the fire alarm off after the whole stove hit 400 Degrees. I am using lumber scraps and a few splits of ash.

I tried to follow the sequence to cure the paint. I really wasn't looking at burn times as I had it wide open to hit and hold 600 degrees. The secondaries are a lot of fun to watch. I'm scared to see what kind of heat this thing would make with the doors and windows closed.:picard:

When we cured the Beta IS last fall, I opened the living room and dining room windows, and put a box fan in each, one blowing in the dining room and one blowing out the living room, next to the stove. That helped evacuate the smells fairly well.

Thats a good idea, I was wondering what I would do to move the odors out. My stove is centralized so I might just open windows on one end and hope the draft work the smell out the other end.

Looking good JA! Just curious about your double walled pipe connection. Did the pipe fit securely into the flue collar or did you use an appliance adaptor? What brand are you using?

There was a flue connector in the kit. I got it from Lowe's. Everything fit tight. I think I talked to you on the phone about the liner. I busted some brick out and they got it to fit.

Yes that conversation rings a bell. Glad to hear it all worked out. Really looking forward to these threads over the winter.
