I am considering buying another Zero Turn Mower. I have found a Kubota ZG 327, 2-3 years old, 177 hours on Craigslist. Pictures of it look that it is in nice condition. The asking price is $8500. I can buy a new one for a little over 10k-that is with 48 month 0% financing if I want it, and a warranty. I think $8500 is a little steep, but I don't want to dicker just for the same of dickering. Any advice on a fair price to offer if I get a chance to go and look at it?
Thanks guys-hadn't thought of checking completed E-bay auctions. I am thinking too steep also. I am watching an auction right now that is for an identical machine-at $5000 with 12 hours to go in the auction-too far away for me to bid. Thanks again.
Keep in mind that eBay takes 10% off the top, so the seller in the listing I linked to only got $6300. That's assuming they avoided using PayPal, which would've scooped off another couple hundred.
Nothing is too far away... When I was in VA I bought vehicles in CA, KS (4), OH, ME, NH, NY, IN, GA, TX, CT (2) and RI, tractors in Canada (4), PA and SD and crawlers in NH and Canada and had them shipped in. I also bought cars, trucks and tractors in VA, NC, WV, MD and PA that I hauled home myself. There are many LTL carriers and boards such as Getloaded.com that you can use.
I have bought 2 new Spartan Zero turns in the last 2 months. If you have a Spartan dealer nearby go have a look at these awesome mowers. They start at I believe 4999 for a 54 in.
Will I just picked up a ferris for about 6 grand brand new with 4 year warranty.. 27 hp etc.. so it seems steep for used to me.. I went ferris cause my lawn is way bumpy and suspension is SO nice and great dealer 3 miles down road.. how much are you mowing? what's it like.. mine is old horse pasture turning into lawn...I mow about 4 acres 10% grade everywhere none I haven't run tractor, dumptruck concrete truck or whatever over twice....
A little high, but it will run forever, being diesel it sips fuel. I would look at it and see how clean it is and how well maintained. You can get a real good feel from meeting / talking to the owner. I haven't looked in a while what are they about 13 new?
Thanks for all the replies! The Kubota model I am looking at is the gas version. They are about 10,000 new. The new diesel version is more like 14,000 new! I am mowing a total of 12-13 acres spread over 3 properties. 8-9 of it gets mowed regularly with a commercial grade Toro ZTR, and the bumpiest 4 acres gets mowed with a rear mower behind my tractor every 2 weeks or so. My zero turn is 8 years old and has 1,000 hours on it. I would like to buy another mower to be able to leave the Toro at my Mother's house-that would make life easier I wouldn't need to trailer a mower there-that is also the smallest parcel (2 acres)I mow-should put no more than 30-35 hours annually on the machine if it is only used there. With that amount of use, I should be able to get several more years out of the Toro. I prefer to go with a Kubota or perhaps another Toro- both are sold by dealers I have long standing relationships with and I have had good luck with my Toro and Kubota products. I haven't had a chance to inquire about the gas Kubota-busy finishing up the school year. I just want to say thanks for all the friendly, helpful replies.

oh Will C the mechanic I know at dealer (known 30 years trust completely) advised me against diesel. I cannot remember his reasoning something about weight vs low end torque? anyway just an FYI... he got diesel truck!
My good freind owns a landscape biz and they have 2 or 3 of the Kubota ZT diesels. And love them. Take less fuel and last longer. Said they rarely get much over 1000 or 1600 hours out of gas. The diesels are past that now. They keep buying them so it must make sense for them.
