So once again a pressure check takes all the guess work out of some problems.

The xtorq coil retards the timing below about 3k rpm for easier starting. If you’re tuned right around that rpm, it will surge up and down. Once you get your leak squared away you’ll want to tune it so it idles below that. Maybe 27-2800

Thanks huskihl. I will take my tach in with me so I can make sure it is below the 3000 rpm level. I did not know that.

You’ll hear it if you’re too high. Sounds like a/c kicking on and off in a car

Well today I fired up the 372xp. It belongs to the National Forest up in Douglas Wyoming and had been in this shop for 3 months.
I reset the carb to about 1 1\2 turns out and the saw fired right up. I had to set the idle because I had it turned way down.
I put the Tach on it and have it set for around 2800. It seems to idle very good there.
The saw accelerated very well and would hold max throttle very well and when let down it would go right back to idle with no issues.
I could turn the saws in all directions including nose down with no change in idle.

I would be willing to bet the saw has not run this good for a long time.
I am guessing the base gasket probably deteriorated over a period of time and not all at once. Well anyways that was the fix.
    Thanks for the help, guys.
