Well, the one old building is chained down, the building that the observers are in is made of concrete and built into the mountain.

Up there, firewood is as valuable as toilet paper. Not many trees up on the rockpile.

Was -14 when I got up at 7, -12 now. Wind has died down some, feel like temp is -29.

For the past 12 years been playing online golf games every Fri night with the same 7 guys. One lives just west of Minn-St.Paul,another a few hours east of him in Wi. They think it's funny how our weather people out here are reacting. This would have been another normal winter day for them.

Your buddy west of Minneapolis is in my stomping grounds. Grew up in Fargo ND / Moorhead Mn (sister cities across the river from each other).

“embrace the suck” is the best way to describe it.

If you all truly have no or little snow cover, go find a bunch of straw now and cover drain fields and wells/ water mains.

these temps will drive frost deep and freeze things hard.

20* gain in 3 hours. Supposed to be near 40 tomorrow. That was fun while it lasted.

Pic of the temp from 7:30AM in Southern VT. Also went to check on our neighbor’s place shortly after. Took a pic of our house on my walk back. The stove was cranking along, so very odd to see anything out of the chimney. Only does that when it’s really really cold. Wind is kicking up now, so it’s feeling colder. It was nice and still early this morning.

We’ve been known to hang blankets over the windows to cut the chill a bit too. Helps keep some of the warmth inside.

I use a butter knife and tuck them into the window trim to hold them in place. That one just never gets taken down.

They definitely like to sensationalize things but this morning was the coldest it’s been in Boston in 66 years. I would say that’s worth reporting

They are actually running the Cog railway up Mt Washington today. Don't know if they're going all the way up or not.
