Right now on top of Mt Washington it's -33F, feels like -87f . On the WMUR noon news they were saying that the atmosphere layers may drop so the summit will be technically in the stratosphere for a bit.

    And
when in the stratosphere, temps rise as you go up. Always cold and below freezing but that’s how they determine the boundaries of layers of the atmosphere

Looks like the wind chill got as low as -110* (dew point is -50* - LOL). The low actual air temperature was -47*, and there were gusts up above 120 mph. For visuals outside the observatory (which is held down by chains to keep it from blowing away), just google "mt washington weather"- there are a bunch of options. One new story said that one of their doors blew off the tracks and they had to make an emergency repair.

On the plus side, ISO New England says there is no threat of power shortage during this arctic blast.

Well, we burned dinosaur juice last night.:(

It was ok. It's good to get some heat in the unheated basement. 46⁰ down there now.

The room with the wood stove.

-35 dew point. I've not seen it that low, ever. Same with -10 outside air.

We run a large humidifier. There's frost around most of the windows. I'm adjusting the moisture setting.

I went to bed and got up early for the first watch around 0330.
-11 then, basement 40* comfy everywhere else.
I left the sillcock open yesterday, it dripped for quite a while, there's a neat pile of ice out there.
Windy as anything out side though!

Right below the -10 above, are the low/high temps for the past 24hrs, I believe. It hit -11 at some point.

Winds are calming after howling overnight. No loss of power, fortunately.
