Is this a good value for the tonnage, or just a waste of time since 22-ton splitters are typically only ~ $200 - 250 more? These seem to not be available in-store. FYI. Power King 15-Ton 6.5 HP Gas Horizontal Log Splitter PK0304 at The Home Depot - Mobile
Don't necessarily care about waiting for a ship-to-store shipment. Care much more about price and quality.
Unless you don't want to tow it further than around the yard- it's laid out pretty nicely. Only issue I see is "catching" the wood on the other side of the fixed wedge...
Well, whatever splitter I eventually get I plan on strapping to a 5x8 utility trailer for any road transport. Either that or widen the axle significantly & use actual greased bearings, install car/truck tires and lengthen the frame (for viewability behind the towing vehicle) on the towed splitter so it's safer, even if only at 45 mph.
I've also thought about mounting the splitter assy on the front of my utility trailer with an engine and hydro tank relocation. Food for thought anyways.
