My Polaris 800. Technically my fathers, but he's had it for 4 years and only had 8 miles on it. So he let me borrow it.

I have bighorns on my Honda too. They are awesome. I can go places in 2WD that I'd be nervous about in 4wd with the stock tires.

Best part about them is they wear like iron. I have over 1000 miles of road riding on them and they still look new on the front.

The best thing I ever did for tire wear and handling was adjust the "toe" on mine. They come from the factory toe'd out pretty far...eats tires fast. Something to consider to help make those tires last longer. About 10 minute job of you have a crow's foot socket.

Lukem I have you to thank for that purchase yesterday:) - Did a bit of research on the bighorns after your earlier post and then just happened onto the CL deal.
Didn't really need rims but heck they were already mounted and the black looks kind of cool.
Did I mention he threw in another set of brand new in the box rear ITP black rims as well? - not sure what to do with them yet, probably sell($35/ea retail).
Thinking about modifying or buying a set of 4x110 wheel hubs for the trailer to accept the pulloffs

I was contemplating adjusting the toe back last spring when I was working on it but looked up factory settings and found the measurements within tolerance will probably tackle it next weekend when it warms back up

Good deal. The "factory specs" for toe are way out to improve stability (and reduce liability), but I actually think mine feels like it has better handling manners with them toe'd dead straight. If you toe them in it will "dart" on you and that's no good.

There are several methods to adjust the toe, but this worked out good for me.

1.) Park the quad with the front end facing some sturdy/immovable object (wall, work bench, etc) about 6’ away.

2.) With the the handle-bars straight, strap them down tight to the back rack. I put one on the end of each grip and used ratchet straps and snugged them up pretty good.

3.) Raise the front of the quad so the tires are barely off the ground.

4.) Tie some mason’s line to the hitch on the back and wrap it around the back tire…then move the string so it just barely brushes the front of the back tire.

5.) Tie off the string to the object in #1.

6.) Repeat for the other side.

Now you have a good reference to determine the toe…measure the distance from the front rim to the string....from the bead of the rim front and back…adjust as necessary.

I did this a couple times before it felt right...I started slightly toe'd out but liked it best dead-straight. Soak the tie rod nuts with some penetrating oil before you do this and save yourself some aggravation. Mine weren't rusted, but they were most likely tightened by a gorilla.

All of the above except I tie the rope off to jack stands - easier to move in/out

Man. You guys get awfully complicated about it. I just take my sock off and move it over a little.

    Maybe... But...

A snowmobile can't go where that machine can now go. That thing would be unstoppable.

2 of those Tracks together equal about one sled track. So that's about 2 X's the amount of surface area/traction that a sled would have.

I'd much rather have the tracks on a Quad myself. Best of both worlds :)

    • Just thinking outloud here if there is 2x the track area of a snowmobile yet less weight (just an assumption ??) Than a snowmobile that doea not equal better traction. Seems you would not have the weight to make use of the available HP ?? Not that i know; but with tractors that is the problem .not enough weight for available HP. My little yanmar has the tires filled and weight on the bumper (not really helping traction on a 2wd) and still will spin the rear tires when the disk gets deep.
