    Sure is a pretty wood when I’ve seen the red grain of those who’ve milled it here. I didn’t realize how pretty some woods are. Some apple grain has come close to the vivid color.... I just wonder if it’s possible to find some near me, a sample. Something.

    Quaking aspen and bigtooth aspen there 's a lot of in Ma.
    That looks like quaking aspen to me.
    We have mostly quaking aspen and bigtooth aspen for poplar types here in SE Mass.
    You often see a lot of grey birch, quaking aspen and white pine along highways as pioneer species grow back from when they clear cut to build the road .

    But tulip poplar is a totally different poplar.

    And hence the difference. If one just says poplar....which kind. I do with those with tulip would list it as tulip poplar so as to not have misunderstandings.
