I believe many here also call it cottonwood Dennis . I can’t stand cottonwood , always shedding something all summer long . Starts with those sticky things , then the dreaded cotton flys into July , and finally leaves fall early . Stuff is heavy as heck when green .

It can be. Those that wood heat with it exclusively would have to go for a lot of reloading trips, so I'd assume poplar would be popular with that person.

Tulip poplar 16 mbtu. poplar poplar, Aspen only a little less. Willow is 13.7 or so.

In Sconnie, our junk tree box elder is 16.9 mbtu and I'll only deal with that if it's super easy to get to. Or in my current case, my buddy wants 16-18" diameter trees cut from his land to reclaim a field. These particular trees are super easy to get to. So no brainer.

no experience cutting or burning it. It does season fast and good SS wood. I get pieces in pallet form and use them in my fire pit. I took one piece this year from the dump and split it just for hahas. Like Midwinter said you have plenty of other better wood at your diposal. Unless you have time and space, go for it. Could mix it in? Im referring to yellow poplar (aka tulip poplar) and not aspen or cottonwood.

    Poplar is Yellow Tulip.
Aspen is in Colorado and very expensive I hear. Don’t bother.
Cottonwood snows in the middle of summer. You’ll know it.
Willow is Willow, no sense weeping over it.

Glad I could clear that up. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

    :) :)

Maine Beer is just Canadian swill. Hahahahaha

Just kiddin, Maine is one of my favorite places. Only problem with Maine is it gets reeaalll cold and it ruined my appetite for lobsters that have hitchhiked in trucks. Once you’ve had a couple dozen straight out of the trap you can’t go back.

Been there done that with the fresh lobstahs. It's not the same thing as milk from the farmer's vat. Now that, is a different story.

That’s interesting, I’m also on the Canadian border and have mostly pine and poplar. Quaking aspen I believe ?
