BIL had a poplar fall. Offered it up to me or anyone I know. My son expressed interest so today ended up being the day. Pregame pics from bil getting it out of the woods. He then proceeded to send me a vid of him dragging logs through the mud. Ended up using a couple buckets of water and a brush to try and get as much off as possible. All 1st cuts done. Just used a 2x6x10. My son on ventilation duty and Adam (BIL) running the mill. Vid is uploading. Cut like butta. Headed to sons house here in a few to sticker em up.
My BIL is building a really nice bar from the wood I milled for him about 2 years ago. Andrew wants to do the same thing, so this thread may come back to life if that happens. We cut to 1 7/8”.
Shaun Carr ported 394 is typically the mill saw. It had an 8 pin rim/sprocket with a 28” b/c, full comp square ground to firewood angles. I used 3 different loops so when I re-grind, should just need a touch up. I’m a stickler for keeping the chain razur sharp. Got em all stickered, just need to get those ends painted.
Great team work there. Saw did zip through them. Im thinking of CSM a couple of the sassafras logs i recently scored.
