Sadly, the person running the pipe machine wasn't smart enough to check the threads with a fitting and reset the dies...although I'm not surprised...:picard:
Black fittings should turn on 3 1/2 turns before needing a wrench

I was watering in the front garden one day and went downstairs and saw water spraying everywhere. I shut off the water main and inspected. This was in early spring and the frost proof faucet had frozen and split in the winter; don't know how but I think the faucet must have been sloped in towards the house and allowed water to stay in the pipe. This was on a Sunday and Lowe's was closing early. I quickly got ready; hey even in an emergency situation one must look presentable to shop clerks LOL, jumped in the car and rushed to Lowe's. I found the faucet; dang those things are expensive, then got some pvc fittings and reached to the box marked PVC glue and grabbed a tin, paid, and rushed back home. Got everything apart and when I went to put back together noticed the glue looked different; "Have they changed the glue?", I thought. No, some idiot had put a tin of ABS glue in the PVC box. Not wanting to be without water until Monday, I jumped in the car, rushed to Lowe's and got there 10 minutes before closing time. I got a refund for the ABS glue and went and got the correct PVC glue, paid, and dashed back home where I finished the job. Of course they do have multipurpose glue but I was on a tight budget and pinching pennies and I was working with PVC.

    Goodness,
Thats a Doosy.. whoever did that setup had a few too many. If it were my deal, I would do it right and wouldnt use a coupler in that instance. Could actually burst off 1/2 cpvc. Can we say FLOOD!! And itle happen when ur away. Murphys law states that.
I would cut out drywall Save piece u cut out for reinstalling after cementing extensions on. Code is supposed to be 6 inch apart and 3 "out from wall, that way you'll have extra if u need to install new couplers later fsr. . Get primer cement in one can (Yellow ) . Looks like 3/4 c you have so, just get 2 feet of 3/4 cpvc, 2 -3/4 couplers and then 2 of these (pictured below), 3/4 to cpvc brass fitting to your shut offs. ( bring ur shutoff w u to ensure a good thread match
When u select your cpvc to brass threaded coupler. Teflon doesn't work well on PVC to pvc or cpvc if threads aren't so hot.
Do it right. Only cost u 10 bucks. Plumber is 150 plus the insurance increase after the claim ul probly be making. I know its extra work but itle last and that's what u should use when going from cpvc to a brass fitment of any kind.
