Got that pile stacked yesterday morning. That finished the 2nd row and made the start of a 3rd. 7 more to go, she'd hold 9 rows, IIRC. 2 rows is a shade over 1 cord. Took the end wall down and got the 42" fan going. You can feel the cooler air coming thru the stacks
Worked Thursday and Saturday evenings, made some progress. Split and stacked enough to almost finish the 3rd row. Got off at 7PM Saturday, worked till 10:30, got a nice pile split This is what's left of the big pile of rounds We got it stacked Sunday night...finished 3rd row and about halfway on 4th row.
When do you sleep? It seems between your job, doing wood, helping your church, friends, and family there isn't a lot of time left.
That's what I go to work for.........JK... My 12hr shift schedule gives me about 1/2 the month off. Does get busy sometimes.
Split enough yesterday morning to get the 4th row finished. Got the rest of the logs bucked on the log rack... We will probably clear that area and make more plastic pallet racks for cherry or pecan. I had to relocate the splitter and conveyor to have room for the next rows, did get a little more split.
Miz Carol was able to help me this morning, so she started stacking the pile, while I was working on the rounds we had left. I had to go single wedge on the last 5 or so rounds, big knots. She was not having fun trying to stack some of this twisted stuff. I told her it would let air get thru better......... That's the 5th row in the shed, guess we are over 1/2 done now...
Great job Miz Carol. Not a fan of stacking the twisty stuff myself. Load of cherry i cut from a couple weeks ago was mostly twisted grain. Not a T. Jeff Veal stack for sure.
Yep, pretty much all of the first 4 rows have been slow, bark is getting loose, borers are just under the bark, so making sure it's clean before it goes down the conveyor. Finally got some today that the bark is still tight on...
Hard on everything: the stopwatch, the splitter, fuel consumption, the person doing the splitting…………..that’s why I noodles an entire dump truck load Saturday! Sick of struggling and just wanted to get some of it out of the way. Gives you an appreciation for those telephone looking logs
Ive done that before i had a hydro. Let up pile up them have a noodle fest. At least you dont hurt their feelings by calling them uglies. Firewood can be sensative ya know!
We started on this log stack today. I had already gotten 6 logs off before I remembered to ... Some of the first ones were smaller with knots, but have to deal with it as it comes. Then found these beauties... 3 logs make 21 18" rounds, we did split and stack a little, still not finished with 5th row yet.
Had enough in the pile to finish the 5th row and start on the 6th... Then split the rest of the rounds left from yesterday... Put a nice load on the lift... Another nice pile of splits... We got those stacked as well...6th row about 1/2 done...
Where do you stack the "B" grade splits? I see knotty rounds. Do you grade splits while processing or put knotty rounds separate for later splitting?
