Gutted yesterday roughed in new vent fan and electrical, got it all re-rocked and first coat before calling it quits ~3pm Second guessed who would get rid of the sweet wallpaper left behind the vanity Behind the vanity there must have been a snafu on the original master bath tub drain - a whole bunch of red clay, but fortunately no termites - soaked it down anyways Samson didn't want to be photogenic either - he did explore behind the tub and found no "active" critters. He was mad I took the mummified rat from him though
Not much progress today, humidity threw a wrench in second skim coat on the drywall, so I laid out the flooring. It's going to be like tiling myself into a corner with these long tiles so they are all cut and ready to lay once sheetrock is done. Went and spent some more money - found the granite top from a remnant "Brazilian Peacock Verde" is the color, at the rate I'm going this thing will need a bode that rinses you with gold

Picked up the vanity yesterday afternoon. After we took it off the truck she stands in front of it and says "this looks tall" so I grab my tape measure and sure enough not 32" like specified but 35.5" I was just finishing sanding the last coat of mud ready for primer.... I set a two gang receptacle over the back of the vanity which would need to be moved up now to accommodate the backsplash. or I abandon it move it to the side wall and have to deal with patching a receptacle hole in brand new sheetrock Pretty sure I'm sending it back, paid for a custom vanity I want a custom vanity. I'm 6'4", tall vanity not a big deal to me she's 5'3" when you start adding top and backsplash you're at 40" before even considering a space for the mirror.
The builder originally sketched it at 35, after mulling it over with the GF and explaining how high her working surface would be we decided @32" finished height so 31" cabinet. He was polite about it and told me the guys in the shop thought the box dimension was 31, and didn't account for the feet. Said he'll have no problem selling this one on his showroom floor
It goes beyond the working height. If you put this huge vanity in a small space it would make everything else not look right. Plus this is a powder room 1/2bath need to be able to accommodate visitors with youngens
Being only 5' tall, I find higher than normal counter-tops a real pain. for that reason I always have a stool hid somewhere in the kitchen.
Painted last Saturday, second coat Sunday morning, tiled Sunday noon and grouted the following day. Had a little time to get the crown up this evening. When I was attempting to wash a dirt mark or two from installing the crown the paint turned a white color tried three different rags, two different paper towels and dry checked it, no dust. I can wet my finger and get a white streak on the wall and a residue on my finger. I waited ~16hrs in low humidity between coats...Thanks Valspar Some progress pics... Yeah those long floor tiles are modest pita in a small room.
