    Just switch from .050 to .063. That has a long way to go. :)

    I use a piston stop regularly, but it's the plastic one that slips in through the plug hole and reaches all the way across to sit up against the far cylinder wall. The ones that thread into the plug hole instead seem more likely to do damage.

    I've used rope too, but most of the rope I have has been sitting around awhile and picked up who-knows-what dirt and debris. The plastic stop is very easy to wipe clean.

    Is is running hot? He run a dull chain tuned lean? Looks oily though. I would say blow by or its cooking on that side from running hot?

    I use all kind of stops metals , plastics, ropes , never have problem , maybe i am lucky
