Ive never been afraid to burn it per se but a friend and her boys and I went to pick up some cut trees that had been dumped by the power company. After a few months of dry weather I threw on a log from this pile and it burned like it was covered in oil. It was dense and heavy too so probably was pitch laden inside. This is probably the most that scares anyone about the pine, you just don't know when That kind of burn will happen. If I happen to find that in my piles, I keep it for starter. Much more useful that way.
Typically, the only way those "outbursts" happen is if the wood isn't dry enough. It's supposed to rain this Saturday. As long as it doesn't rain too much, I think I'll get the splitter out and split this pile up.
