I started today clearing four small pine and then bucked them up. Once I get the chit on the ground cleared up, I can get the tractor in there with the pallet forks to lift the pine off the ground. The majority of the pine in the last two pictures should all be down before the garage build starts. We do have some hardwood that will be in the stacks by fall coming out of this area, cherry and some ash.
Looks like fun! For guys like us. lol Friggin' stack up that pine too! Don't discriminate against wood! Pine lives matter man...pine lives matter.
We burn six f/c in the fall/spring shoulder season but the majority of the people in our area won't burn it so the wood dump is full of it. After all the clearing of the pine on this job, we should be four or five years ahead on our shoulder season, we might have to increase what we burn.
You are always busy with something thewoodlands , great to see you have plans and moving forward with them. Keep us updated!
I'll keep this thread updated until the garage is finished but once the felling of the trees are done the mods might move it which isn't a big deal. Once I check the tightness of the bolts on the frame that holds the backhoe, I'm thinking about putting that on.
I didn't take a good look to see which way would be the best felling direction for these three but we'll go after them tomorrow. We means the wife on the rhino with the winch cable and a regular cable if we need it.
It doesn't look like it will be difficult to drop those trees or to determine where they will fall. Is the new garage for the tractor?
Been waiting on this thread too. Do you know what size your building? Garages should always be built bigger than what you think you need. I never met anyone that says gee I wish I built it smaller. Of course most, myself included, build what you can afford.
It will be 28 x 36 with a 9 foot door and we went without storage above. Backwoods Savage , it's for the tractor and the boat along with a few more things. The tall thin pines are tangled up with each other at the top so we get a cable on it so they will come through the other tops. Any tree that can reach the house will also get a cable put on it.
We did five trees today, two were real small and the other three were not huge but required a bunch of limbing. Just some pictures of the work today.
A few more pictures, I did change my mind on what trees to fell after getting in there this morning. With the wet snow we received, all the equipment is pretty wet.
It's the same around here. It's always easy to score pine scrounge wood as nobody else takes it. Mine.
I really like pics of cutting with snow on the ground, you got some good ones there with the wood loaded neatly in the bucket. 28' x 36', that's plenty of space, good for you!
We had about four inches of new snow this morning so after coffee I plowed two driveways and since they're calling for more snow the next couple of days I decided to burn the pine branches which will open up that area for three more loads of branches. We're getting low on wood for our fires so tomorrow we'll put two loads in and then get back to the pine clearing.
