After several of us started to diagnose his problem, we were leaning towards wet wood when out of no where the thread poster tells us how he
had put a large amount of cardboard and paper through his stove recently. He claimed his wood was under 20%.
I'm kinda glad he had the interest to look at his stovepipe, that may have gone unnoticed until spring

I know it could start chimney fires but I DO know it clogs the crap out of stovepipe.

Poo, using some pieces of cardboard to start a fire isn't going to cause any problem

Ditto that. Still working on a trailer load of cedar shakes I got from my neighbor when he replaced his roof 3 summers ago. Gotta be careful though that stuff can really light up and fast! This fall curiosity got the best of me and I ordered a box of SuperCedars. Nice stuff and I like being able to break them apart to use just a couple of pieces to get a fire started.

In case you didn't realize I just put this on here goofing around.
    For the record.
When I have one I do Rip up the pizza box and use it to start a cold stove fire, Just to get rid of it and use it for something, It is not the best firestarter.
I use Rutland firestarter squares for a cold start, I Use one and it does the job, Sometimes I use kindling sometimes I don't.
For reloads, warm start, Nothing Is needed because with my dry Wood it is burning before I get it finished loading.
I never get up out of bed just reload the stove, If the house gets down to 60 degrees I don't care, I just fire up the stove with an hour I'm at 73 degrees, With 20 degree outdoor temperature

Yeah, The grease soaked liner in the bottom of the box, Rolled up will start a cold stove very nice :fire:
For leftover pizza, wrap it in tin foil on top of the stove 3 to 5 minutes, hot n ready to go :D

Nice. I use two or three shingles and two pieces of newspaper. Watching the shingles go up so fast and hot really makes me cringe thinking those were on the roof of my home.

When I run out of Super Cedars, and have no grease soaked pizza boxes. This is the best little backup fire starter yet.

Take a couple very absorbent paper towels roll them up. Dip them in old cooking oil , they soak things up nicely.

    Sure beats melting candle wax.
