I'm not offended by any means. Just wish Trundle had a rifle close bye, that'd be a happy ending for me. I have no love for the "Big kitties". .. and that one looks like 130 lbs. or so. Nothing to mess with.
Not a great picture as it does not do justice to the deer. I have great video, as novice as it is at times, but have not figured out how to post it yet. He has 11 points, pushing 18 inside spread and is taller than wide.
You passed on that dude? That would have been the biggest buck I ever saw in the stand. The only bucks I have running around here are little 8's and 10's that are 1-2 years old!
seriously. you must have some heck of a honey hole if you think he will make it another year... guessing 3.5yrs, pushing 150" depending on left brow and G2. will get some more mass next year and hopefully a bit more tine length. was his neck thicker than it looks in the picture? should be starting to rut pretty hard. boy i miss my bow hunting. silly baby making gettin in the way...
" silly baby making gettin in the way..." ... it's a tough job but somebody's gotta do it. May the force be with you...
This is a NJ buck and he is not walking due to a pass. He is walking due to fate. I thought he was going to walk nearly under me and provide a much better shot. I have taken a 130 inch buck with the bow, but this is solidly above that. He has little to be gained on the brows, but main beams are out to his nose and he has good mass. He needs to make a mistake for me to get him. They are rutting hard now, so tis the season for poor choices. The video really shows him off.
Bad turn of events. Last night this buck came into the area around 415 and bedded down. He did not respond at all to a grunt call and he did not move prior to me sneaking out around 530. This morning at first light I found him with the binos, just 10 feet from where he was last night. Eyes nearly closed and no movement for an hour, but head up. His tail would twitch every so often. Bad sign. He slowly rose from the bed and with a hunched posture moved a couple steps and laid down again. He did this a couple times over the next 15 minutes. Some bristled hair at the white/brown line mid body but no obvious wound. Every thing I saw said he was gut shot. I tried to sneak out without him seeing me, but he caught me and crashed through the thick stuff at a slow rate. Heart wrenching to see this on such a spectacular deer. Bummed for sure. I am going to leave the area for a week and see what happens. I can see vultures that may circle this area from my house, so I will be checking. Only hope of survival I feel is that he has made 15 hours minimum with the wound and is still in somewhat decent health.
Maybe. There is a disease I seen in Ohio that could take one like that. Seen it. Also if hit by something. I got a 170+ in velvet that I had 100's of cam pics of watching grow. Then boom just like you talk about above. Never got to hunt him and had state patrol come dispatch him for me so I could legally have him mounted in velvet. This years biggest cam shot between stand and feeder. Southern Ohio.
I got a cam pic one time of a buck I tracked for 2 days. Cam pic showed the arrow still in him a week later. Found the 35mm pic from old deer cam the other day. Was 2 shooters chasing a doe. He got turning before arrow hit. He had busted me.
