I bought a 5105 last year and I absolutely love it. I can only imagine what it is like to sink the bar on the 7900

I'm a big Dolmar fan. I have a PS7900 that's about 10 years old. It's been a great saw. The only problem with that saw is that the oiler won't support a bar much past 24". It just won't get enough oil to it. I thought it was just me, but I've come to find out it's pretty much the way they run.

I also have a Dolmar 540 which is a fantastic 50 cc saw. Great saw. My only gripe about Dolmars is that they leak oil. I've done all kinds of things. But, if you set 'em for a day or two with oil in them they'll leak. It's a design issue.

They have super motors. BTW, there's a Heavy Duty air filter kit for that 7900 that is well worth the few bucks for it. It changes that filter cover and gives it more airflow. Dolmar sells it, so your local dealer should have it.

Going to .063" gauge bars helps a little past 28". I never had a problem with one oiling a 28" and 32" occasionally.

OK I just put the camera in the truck and will get some today if CRS doesn't kick in.

The view is absolutely amazing. If it's clear you can see 40+ miles.

OK, I am back. I have access to two parcels that were logged last fall. One is .5 miles from my house and the second is about 7 miles away. The one landowner burns wood and has mobility issues. I cut up about 10 cord of dried logs that are now gone and some cull logs that was about another 10 cord. Some of the latter has been removed. In return I got log cutoffs from the loggers when they were working and they would load my trailer with the forwarder. Now that they are gone I can do anything I want. I have yet to really work on tops due to the steep terrain and there is so much on the landings that are really easy.

    It is quite scenic:

Well the real deal is when I get stuff from the loggers. They load my trailer which takes 3-4 min. and I point out what I want. I could haul 2 loads, cut up, unload in two hours when they were by my house. Each load was at least 2 face cord.

I just sent an e-mail this morning to his neighbor who is having his place logged this Summer. When I talked to him Monday, I knew more about the logger's schedule than he did since I talk to them on occasion. Believe it or not, I want access to that land too.:axe::tree:

hey bandit! Nice pics and hauls. Any chance you care to share tips on replacing trailer springs and shackles?

I have the same trailer as Bandit, and my tongue is already bent. My loads were much smaller than his..

The one thing I noticed in his pics, is he has a brace that goes from the middle of the front, down to the center of the tongue. I'm guessing either he added it? Or the previous owner if he bought it used?

I have a trailer (Trailers by Net) the same size as those for about 10 years and so far nothing has happened except the tail gate (ramp) hinges broke off.

    OK funny man.:hair:

Believe it or not after almost 20 years of abuse and doing nothing other than replacing the tires I broke a spring. The spring broke while going down the road to a tree pruning job while it was UNLOADED. Of course when this happens the fender drops on the tire. Lucky I caught it before the tire was destroyed.

Tip #1. Order the right length of spring.

Tip #2 Order the right length of spring.

Tip #3 When you have ordered the wrong length of spring 27" rather than 25.5" make new links for it. You will discover this after re-assembly using the original links. (but hey, these springs have a higher rating:thumbs::whistle:)

Tip #4 Take apart the links for the third time and re-drill the whole so the geometry on the trailer is correct. (as weight is applied, the link goes from a vertical orientation to horozonatal and the fender gets closer to the tire)

Tip #5 You promised to let a customer use the trailer on a 2 cord firewood deal, (so you can buy a Silvey 510 grinder) but now you don't know how it will perform. So you now volunteer yourself and truck to haul the load free of charge since you don't know how this thing is going to work with a big load on it.

Bandit you always have good pics and just the right number of words in your threads. I wonder if perhaps you might bless us with same as you weekly modify your trailer? A sort of weekly diary of your trailer as it approaches retirement, just so your friends can remind you with pictures someday of your good old days gathering firewood and fixing the blessed trailer:axe:
