Best of luck getting those on the ground with no collateral damage!

He wanted us to start on the left side, those were shading the pool area in the afternoon and were closer to the house.
1st tree we cut on that side

Then we started dropping some oaks

The bigger oak just behind it didn't go quite far enough to the left, got hung up on the 2 oaks the small one brushed against going down.

We were able to cut the big oak in 6' and 7.5' sections to get it small enough for the tractor to pull it down 0608220847a.jpg

Wednesday morning we loaded what we had cut Tuesday afternoon 0608221314.jpg
Spent the rest of the morning cleaning up the 2 oak tops and getting ready to take this leaning red oak down. 0608221846_HDR.jpg

Are you logging for mill, or logging for firewood? What size is the kubota?

Kinda both. We cut the pine for his neighbor, who has a bandsaw mill. The sweet gum over 10" dia we cut 11-12' long, local mill takes them for cross ties. We have taken them 1 load from the front yard. Probably have another load on the part of the job 0509221108.jpg
Hope they will take the small gum for the chipper, if a friend doesn't want them for erosion control.
We are taking all the oak, hickory, maple and beech to our firewood yard
The Kubota is a 30 HP L3130, '06 model. Got it converted to QA and grapple last year.
