    I got that notice in email. It is such a shame they charge $20 and it is good for only 3 months. Also, only dead and downed wood not more than 200 feet from the road leaves a lot of wood going to waste. It would cost the state nothing to let people cut firewood so long as they did stick to dead and/or downed trees. It used to be free and good for 10 cord and the permit was also good for a year, not 90 days. We have some dummies in Lansing. After all, they practically give away logs for lumber... Why not make money off that instead of a simple homeowner trying to heat his home.
