Low 80’s with low humidity so I tried to knock out the hardest firewood work for next winter. Almost got the racks fulled outside the front door. 99% Red Oak and 1% White Oak and Cherry. The heat pump will be dormant again this winter. no lawn, just wood , bark and chips
Have been cutting hard lately when it is dry. My cutting locations involve 4wd and I don't have mud tires since 95% of my miles are on the highway delivering. 2:37
We had some temps in the high 70's with low humidity in May too, it was nice working in it. You'll get some nice heat out of that after it's seasoned, nice work.
I have 75 pallets stacked about 6' high. Mostly white oak followed by hickory and red oak. Have a little hard maple and cherry also. Started cutting on a 45 acre timbered location yesterday. Load my truck with about 1/2 a cord on each trip and figure I have about 150 truck loads in this location. Very difficult work since a lot of the wood is pushed together and very hilly. My wheelbarrows get a lot of work since stumps keep me from getting close. Figure I wheelbarrow 200lbs about 30 times over 1/2 a mile each cut. My wife can't understand why I go to bed eating every night.
In about a ten mile radius from my location great hardwood is very abundant. People with 50 or more acres are harvesting their wood big time with the high prices. I cut my truckloads and pile up the rest and burn it for them. Saves them big bucks by not having to pay for cleanup. As long as my body and truck can take the punishment, I am game.
Thats a beautiful sight for sure. You make some nice farwood there Mr.Chud! It was super nice here today as well. I set some pallets and stacked all the hickory i split on Saturday. Close to half cord with a few rounds to go. Ill take a full Summer like this. I hate humidity.
I went out to mow the trails in my woods and the clearing where we have had fires in the past. I got stopped twice from getting to the firepit area by trees that were down. If I can get out of bed at an early enough time(slept in til 8:30 today) I will head out to clear the trails enough to finish mowing. Going out to see the new Top Gun movie in the afternoon.

I didn't get out today for splitting, but spent the better part of saturday out there. We split & stacked maybe 2/3 cord. Had a friend help load and stack. It was toasty, but we stopped took breaks to deink like fish, have a Backwoods, fellowship...nice-n-easy. It was work, but we relaxed and had fun. Im a hard type-A, this was a needed departure with relationship as the priority, and wood as the reason to buold relationship. Like most here, I'll get out in this weather. But I like the hot stuff just to sweat out all the toxins. Sca
