I did pay dealer prices for my battery. I have never claimed to be a mechanic and have found sometimes it is less expensive to have them do a job instead of someone else who may not be as skilled. I got an 800 cold cranking amp battery.
Ok buddy what recommend for diesel tractor mine is original so needs to be done this summer.. 2006 Bota MX 5000 I figure 20 is pushing luck FYI I will gladly pay $400 for one lasts another 20 years zturn battery was $185
I'm better with 2 wheel stuff. Lol. But I'll take a look tonight. I'm sure east Penn/ deka makes a battery for your 'bota. What group number is on the battery in it now? Edit. I see group size 24f, the same as the 4Runner . If that's the case it should be easy. East Penn made blains farm and fleet platinum battery is $150. And that's a 735 cca battery, probably more cca than the one you currently have. Tractors usually have more flexibility with battery size than a power sport batteries. More space, turn you get the biggest you can fit. But 20 years in the same battery? That's nuts.
20 years?!?! I thought I was doing something with a 10+ year old battery. It's a duralast platinum for those wondering. It needs replaced soon cause I hook it to the battery charge every night now.
I didn’t realize battery was 20 years old until it was having trouble in cold this year.. plugging in block heater is solving problem I don’t want to wrench on it in cold.. unless absolutely necessary
I saw if the tractor or for that fact any battery sits for more than a week to invest in a battery tender and let the charger always keep the battery topped off. And I mean the battery tender brand not some cheap knock off
O'Reilly's might be closer to you. It's been a few years since we were out by you, but there are O'Reilly's around northern Vermont . Super start batteries that O'Reilly sells are apparently deka / east Penn made batteries. If your Kubota actually takes the a group 24 like our 4Runner, it's just over 200 bucks for a standard high cca battery in Brattleboro vt, which is probably the same price as all O'Reilly's by you. You have a higher core charge than WI does. But that's a wash. You just need to match up the group type.
We had 2 OEM Motorcraft batteries that overperformed in work trucks...one went 13 years, the other 15. Unfortunately the replacement Motorcraft batteries are not the same...can only get the original black label batts off the assembly line.
Truck up and running after dropping by and getting a free replacement. Doing a little looking at a solar charger for when the truck is going to sit awhile. Not sure if anyone has any experience with them. I put a tender on z turn as it sits for months at time.. The Bota doesn’t sit so I never put on tender; it gets started weekly and there are no computers or drains on it Hard to argue with 20 years Yup Oreilly in St Albans great job in false spring. Barn has power and can always jump it with battery charger. Thanks I will check type when it’s not buried in snow.. it Blew open that 15” on powder and hasn’t warmed up yet

Solar chargers work great. They at least stop any drain as long as there's some sun. We used one on the pontoon boat.
Horkn brenndatomu ya'll ever heard of Trojan Batteries? I know they make deep cycle batteries for golf carts and such, don't know if they make any auto batteries. They are made...in fact, one of their plants is in the Washington Co Industrial Park...in Sandersville GA...
Hmm, might have to look into one of these for the tractor. Extreme cold weather killed the original battery after only five years and I replaced it with an Optima battery in the fall of 2024. So far so good but it wouldn't hurt to put the battery on a solar tender as it's a PITA to run an extension cord to where the tractor is. Thanks for the info.
Not sure if it is BS or not but I have been told that OEM agricultural/industrial batteries are made to be more rugged with thicker plates than over the road ones. My original Deere strong box battery went 14 years before getting weak.
