I suect I know where it's at so after the auger is out and clean I'm gonna recheck the connection on back of the stove. Again previous owner put it on but the adapter is slightly crooked! While I was tinkering this morning I noticed that.

If it had some originally? I would re-seal it. I think they use it to reduce smoke in the hopper on start ups(FYI). Notice the black on the upper portion of the cover.

Not all for nothing. You just learned a lot about that stove. Very important. You can see why so many people fail at pellet burning. They are not plug and play. Every time you dig into that stove you will become more acquainted with it and know right where to go when you run into problems.
Interesting how many folks here are both pellet and firewood burners.

Well I have had it completely apart twice lol its actually a very very simple unit so far!

I just ran a cycle and found the smke leaks so I definatly need to RTV the joints on the flex 90! The stove really throws heat too I think we got a winner.... Its all hooked up and ready to roll other than the RTV on the pipe some zip screws and of course I need to trim and caulk outside today. This may be the very last nice day for us we are looking at some very cold temps coming in later this week and a lot of rain! Perfect timming!

If possible, shine a light up the auger tube after the flight is out....make sure no pellets jammed up at the end or in a bushing.

EDIT: Oooooops....just saw that you pulled the cover in the hopper. Looks good. Reseal that cover with a bead of hi-temp red silicone.

Looks good, hope you save some money.Agree with dex, tight in corner hard to work on.Put sealer on auger cover top.3" will prob be ok depending on your elevation. Now you have learned about out and up,you could have minor leaks in an up and out and never notice. Also draft and starting a bit harder on out and up.Also have seen too long of screws used,to where they go into the inner liner of pipe and push it away causing smoke to get in between the pipes, causing a leak many feet away.

Kind of like a cigarette lighter. Ck the temp of your walls next to the stove. You don't want them hot. Not a problem with my napoleon but is with the Harman. If it is a concern, just put that extention on and have the stove out a little further from the back. It will improve your access and have it more away from the walls.

Actially iv got plenty of room. The sides come off and bam your in. No need to get behind it. I had both blowers and the auger out and it was very simple. I'm surprised at how easy it is to work on... I was expecting it to be a back panel access.

It can take several minutes to start up.

As Saves said, it's like a cigg lighter in a car (electric element). Air runs over it and super heats the air. That heated air is what ignites the pellets.

The first time you start it, your gonna have to prime the auger (it's empty and will take a minute or two to fill up). Does your control panel have a "Prime" button to manually turn the auger?

Are you lighting the stove manually then? The ignitor should be glowing red (of you can see it).

If your gonna hook that stove up to a thermostat, then I would make sure it can light on its own. If it doesn't, those ignitor cartridges are pretty cheap through Grainger.

    BTW- It looks great Pete..

What do you mean "You pellet guys"? You have joined the club my friend. . It's "Us pellets guys (and gals)". :D

The next time you start it up, just let the stove run its course. Don't intervene or manually light..

Also, does your control panel have a Manual/Auto/T-stat option? If so, it has to be in Automatic for the ignitor to work (or T-stat, but should have a stat connected).

Gonna go read your manual now.
