Well pete you are a mod and we have to keep you guys happy!:)I have installed a thimble on the side of a fixed window(took out the moveable window and framed in) for my second stove.Went through researching harmans reccs, building codes, many hours spent.Biggest thing was harman reccomends 12 inches away(might fog window, but inspector agreed with me,as the thimble also is an oak and draws air in around exhaust, not a problem.(duravent product, fits in 7 1/2 square opening, has 3" tubing for harman stoves)Ran into another problem, the gas inlet/regulator/vent is below and off to the side. The building codes say 3 foot either side, and 18 foot high no exhaust.Researched it myself, got ahold of inspector--those clearances are for NG as it is lighter than air.Being in the mountains I have propane, which is heavier than air, only need 3 foot to the sides and above. He was more worried that my below ground basement was sealed at the power pass through. So there are some really smart gov. workers out there, and it makes life much better! On the other hand the stove you bought is known to have problems with the control board, probably an accutron 4.Keep your eyes open for any series accutron board, because if it dies,an older version may make the stove usable, just different.Something is going on with accutron.

Yup I read that too... I have an igniter and a control board on the way already as backup. The board the previous owner had laying around for that reason. I ordered a backup igniter because it makes sense lol. I know there are smart gov employees however my county has very few inspectors and they pull multiple duties. As I said this inspector is a decent guy but very much by the book aka manual pics... I'll be honest I'm not even sure he will go by the video because it's not in the manual he's that strict. The last inspector literally spewed bonus facts at every turn! ( otherwise known as BS lol)

Cool.Going to try and help you some more.If it looks like things are not going well,"offer" to bring in an expert that is NFI certified for his/her opinion/judgement.Maybe you should do this anyway, might cost 100 dollars or a beer.An nfi person is certified to "know " how to research the local/state laws, and knows much more than the inspector.A lot of inspectors go to these people for info. You can also call nfi for info. Now for the bad/good.Your pelpro is a low cost china import,I am pretty sure(nothing wrong with that). It is a top feeder, old reliable design, works well, consistant. As you appear to be as broke as I was last year, your unit can accept modifications to keep running. But you being a wood burner,do you think you can handle dumping in a bag, turning the knob, and doing nothing else but enjoy the heat for ten hours?:D:D

Um well no............ Lol I like my firewood A LOT!  It's not broke more like we budget very tightly and I rarely go over.

I will look into the NFI certified person tomorrow! Thx for that. When you say top feeder what do you mean? It has augur that pulls the pellets an an upward angle and drops them down but the pellets pour into the top.

Ready for a shocker! Same parent co as harman that threw me off...

http://www.nehpba.com/Resources/Documents/Sponsor News/Hearth _ Home.pdf I've already had better service by 100000000000 times what I had with that disastrous tl300 we owned lol. That threw me for a loop I couldn't get a human on the other end for over a month with harman then when I did I was told your wrong over and over. Man that ticked me off. It's why we dumped that pos for our Jotul. I'm still guessing the pelpro sucks but time will tell....:zip:

Well he wouldnt go for the video manual only... So I made as short a run as possible straight out and up. Tomorrow ill finish the pipe and be done. I anchored the hearth and set the stove too so thats finished. Now I need to get the oak kit installed tomorrow as well. It shouldnt take too long I dont think. I purchased some snazy hole cutter bits. Pretty sure I need to move the phone lines ver too... I'm not done anchoring or caulking yet thats all tomorrow. Its gonna look like a pro job when I get done!

If I could make one suggestion. . My Quadrafire was that close in the corner. Not getting behind the stove to service it was a PITA. I would add a 1 ft section on the stove adapter and push that stove 1 ft further out on the Hearth.

You have more than enough room to accomplish it. Otherwise, disconnecting the pipe every year will be a Pain, and you will ad that extra foot next year.

I can get behind all my stoves now and work on them. Much easier to service/clean.

Other than that, it looks great Pete! Good job!

Make sure to get a good Surge protector.

Tripp-Lite makes a good one. It's called the UltraBlok. They are pretty cheap on eBay and have good protection. Comes in white or black. I have a black one downstairs and the white one upstairs.

Yeah its gonna cost more for another one foo section, but it is going to "save" you a lot of frustration.

That is one downfall for a pellet stove. You must have adequate space to work on it. The Manufacturer has minimum guidelines, but if you follow those (what I did on my first stove), you will be very unhappy when it comes time to clean..

The 45° piece will stay right there and your stove will still be centered on the Hearth. It will just move further out (you should still have Plenty of room for the front clearance).

Looking good. Is that a 3 or 4 inch exhaust?

Looking good Pete. You'll be drinking beer in front of a pellet fire in no time.

Larry it's 3" exhaust. The stove can take 4 but with the run I have to make it won't need it.... Most of it is free from 343amc and what came with it. I did have to buy 2 90's and a clean out T. Tomorrow I'm gonna go get the last 24" section to get a ft above the window and a 1' to extend the stove out. I read somewhere to use RTV sealant on the pipe inside and out is that right?

They are not that much more in the long run. I have enough room to move forward a ft. barely but enough so I'm going for it. I do like a big hearth the one I built for my wood stove is enormous lol...

You can get high temp vent pipe sealant at Menards, but I've used normal automotive high temp RTV also. Probably the same thing.

Only need to seal the vent on the inside. If the exterior leaks, it doesn't matter.

I wouldn't seal it at first. Check for leaks and smell for smoke.

What is your venting set up?

    EVL chart is as follows

Each piece or foot has a number. You add those up and it equals your EVL.

    1- 90° or Clean out T = 5'
    1- 45° = 2.5'
    1 ft of horizontal = 1'
    1 ft of vertical = .5'

So 5 ft of vertical would equal 2.5'
Or 3 ft of horizontal would equal 3'
    Two 90°'s would he 10'.

What I posted above is an EVL of 15.5'. Max EVL for 3" is 15'. Anything over needs to be 4" so the stove can breathe. Just because a pellet stove has a powered/pressured exhaust, doesn't mean it can be super long or have a lot of bends. Every bend puts extra strain on the stove to "push" it out.

Your vertical outside would be less restrictive if you used a 45° to angle out and not hit the gutter to go above it. Adding another 90° or two 90°'s will take you way over 15'.

    Ummmm lets see here...

    1- 3' peice
    1-5' peice
    1-45°peice
    1- cleanout T
    1-1' peice
And a 90 at the top

I think thats it. So 12.5' I think....

If I read this right, I get your EVL at over 20.

List what pieces of straight pipe are horizontal or vert. It makes a big difference.
