I bought 2 tons of those in 09 ish in CT. I thought the bugs were actually blue flecks. They were a good pellet, making Great use of a bad environmental condition. Wish I could find them here again.
Interesting you mention that. What I learned is that the man that once produced them made one of the best products available. The name has since been sold to a corporation. His stellar reputation still sells the name, though the quality of the new pellets are is being questioned. I just showed my hubby a handful heartlands vs Rcky Mtn. LOLOL I said "see the black parts?" He said "blue". PS, he said the blue the you two mysteriously see is resin left over that the pine beetle secretes to bore into the wood. Apparently the blue is getting trendy in wood furniture.
Those came through here once, probably in '09....burned a few bags in my old stove but it didn't really like them....I remember them smelling good though!
Update. I bought two extra tons that were Rocky Mountain brand, had them stacked ontop of my front porch stash of Heartlands (enclosed porch). We have encountered several problems since starting the Rocky Mountains including an ash pan fire, auger jams, extra dust, and the most annoying, lengthy starts when the hopper ran dry. Today he used a bag of Heartlands again since we have burned through most of the Rocky Mountains, if I am not mistaken (it was below zero here 1/2 the day) the heartlands might burn hotter too.
