I am exaclty the same way when my favorite posters change avatar pics! No idea who that was on another site, just curious
well, conspiracy theorist or not, no retailer is consciously "keeping the supply low" right now.....the issue is they cant get them. I find it highly unlikely the pellet mills are just sitting on product either, trying to drive the price up......
I experienced a shortage this morning at work, got out of the truck to have a wizz, it was like -2 out with a hefty breeze.
I interpreted his post as big box stores order a set amount with the intent of selling all of it before the next season?
There was a thread here about a pellet plant that closed and was up for auction. If there is consumer demand why are retailers having a hard time getting them? The plants cannot produce enough? Poor business projections on demand? Not enough profit to expand production? I can't find the disconnect LW... Can you shine any light on this?
It comes down to what it always does $$ Mega tons of pellets produced in the USA are shipped to Europe to be used in power plants . Tons of pellets are used by the oil drilling industry they use them around the rigs to sop up the muck. Mills want to maximize profits while keeping overhead low ,so they will sell the pellets where they can make the most $$. That's my take on it. Doug, LW, Bucks shoot a hole in this if I'm way off base enlighten us
Everyone is trying to maximize the dollar. Nothing wrong with it, and there are numerous strategies that work, and even more that fail. There is a little bit of everything going on.
