Well with the big storm blowing in I finally fired up the stove today. Was holding off as long as I could, don't need the second stove running until below freezing and I had been using my woodstove as primary this year. But in the 30's today with 35mph this drafty old poorly insulated place needs some btu's! Had to finish assembling the pipes since I cleaned it a few weeks ago, but got it back together and fired up. Everything seems to be working good still on this cheapie, thankfully.

So true. My son and his wife stove just tanked. (they live upstairs) I went to Lowes, got $130 off and another 10% military discount. The stove that was in that kitchen was a Kenmore glass top with double ovens. I bought that one about 8 years ago. It started to smell like hot wires so we decided it was time for it to go. Didn't get the glass top this time or the double ovens. What a hard time they are to keep clean or fix is something goes.

I actually manage to dig a hole and sat a PT 4x4x8ft pole. backfilled with rapid set concrete. I going to use it to support several bird feeders and top it with the weather station. Firs time I have been physically able to dig a hole in 3 years. Took me a while, but hay, I got it done. I set the pole then took a level to it. I had the bubble between the lines in both sides just by eye!

Did they go back to the electric coil stove top? After going to the glass top I cant go back to the coils, but then again its just me and my honey-no kids laving the sgtove top looking like they cooked the eggs right on the glass top

Preferences I guess and what I really want is gas top and electric oven. Best of both worlds right there.

I bought them the coil one. They picked it out. No more issues with unleveled pans or cleaning concerns. I have gas. They could of also, but they didn't ask for it. The glass top one had too many issues. I think part of the problem was that the glass stove top was white. I don't know just what went bad on it, but the oven was giving out an electrical smell (hot wire) so we decided it wasn't safe to use.

Glass definitely has more upkeep. I keep a single edge razor blade by the stove.

Sugar is really bad for the glass top. I guess it eats away at the ceramic and if you boil anything over with sugar in it you have to clean it immediately or it can pit. The glass cleaners for the cook top vary in how well they work. I have one that works really well but cant remember the name of it-I think its Cerama Bryte. Heck most times I just use the same Rutland cleaner I use for the glass on the Harman-its likely the same kind of ceramic glass in both uses.

Off to celebrate an early ThanksGiving meal with the family. I won't be chowing down this year. 37.5 lbs down and I want it to stay off. So I'll have some turkey and some salad and be just fine. The family gathering will be the best part. Also the fact that one of my daughters is having it at her house! No left overs to get in trouble with. We did cook a turkey to have here. Was only 47 cents a pound so it is cheap and healthy eating for the week. You all have a good day. Be back later tonight.
