A walk, garden work, exercises, and normal indoor stuff.

I shouldn't forget I showed the boss how to start the lawn mower.

the majority of my transactions are by eft, wire, or ach for both my business and my personnel accounts. These electronic transfers work quite well, but I still reconcile (balance) my business account faithfully each month, and Kathryn does our personal accounts. I have seen several bank errors (and a fair number of my own!) over the years that had i not reconciled i never would have caught. It is my opinion that it is more important today to balance your accounts every month with all these electronic transactions, than it was in the past.

Balance monthly on line and in the book. Don't write much checks either. To easy to debit or charge(and pay off balance on billing) to get the cash back...........

Good news, Got a 10% for TSC in da mail. Bad news. Stacks are still to the ceiling......... I might get a couple bags if they have something I haven't seen in a while.

Reminds me I gotta count my bags for the October burn count and post in subsailor thread!!

I got my 10% coupon too. The highland store has a few tons of the Dry Creeks and many tons of the Curran hardwoods. And the good news is the shelter logic has a lot of room in it and I never balance my checkbook so there outa be plenty of jingle in there. :D So cellah dwellin fella which one should I grab ?

We don't write cks. much at all. Do at the town office or they charge 2.5% to use a card. That reminds me. My excise tax and dog registration are due this month. Another thing I could do on line, but then they charge the processing fees. At least my excise tax is at a low now. In Maine, we pay it and registration every year. Get a new car and it is 6 to 7 hundred a year.

Ya JT. I'm gonna try to talk them into loading the Dry Creek upc bags into the Chevy. We will see if it will work. I haven't had a lotta luck with this store though, I usually have to argue a bit.

Same here in NH but we dont pay sales tax on the original purchase. Sounds like Maine is hitting you on both ends

I use paper checks for fund raisers (you know, the coworkers bring in stuff to sell for their children), town expenses (water/sewer/property taxes - otherwise I get hit with a convenience fee) and charities (so they don't get charged a CC fee). But I use the heck out of the register that is ins the checkbook cover. Most of my transactions are debit card - so I really need to make sure I keep on top of my checking account (a few pennies doesn't bother me though).

Yesterday I put the honey bees to bed for the winter , 67 degrees:cool:. Today rain and getting colder. Processing honey and bottling it. Going out for groceries etc. and paying some bills. Stove off for the last few days, it was 27 Monday morning.

I use to do the same keeping track of all the debit card transactions in the checkbook even when not using many checks. Did that for years as I just couldnt fathom not doing it. I finally gave in to that after finding out that even my oldest brother no longer did this and managed his accouts online only. Seeing he is a banker, went to Wharton School of Business and is my older bro, I figured it was time to stop wasting my time. I dont have much $$ in the account so its not too hard to know if anything is missing or out of the ordinary.

If you want to, some checkbook software like Quicken will download your accounts and keep track of it for you for short $$. Sometimes Quicken is free at tax time if your use Turbo Tax.

Nope - don't care for the download thing; actually never got it to work when I was willing to try and I use Quicken just for a quick reconcile every couple of months using manual entry. I'm good the way I am. I like having a paper register to look at.

May I say that I'm not technologically phobic. I work with computers all day (and have since the DOS days), used to create databases, have dabbled in wep page coding, am the go-to person for when the IT guy is out etc. etc.. Just some things are better suited for paper, and to me, the checkbook is in that category.

I still keep the check book current. This one day I needed the balance and wouldn't ya know it the banks website was down for maintenance. EEeeeeeeehhhhh! I had a rough idea of what was in the account. But didn't dare make a purchse(rather large) without knowing what was in there exactly. So I had to hold off for 24 hours until the site was back up. Missed a dandy sale too. Another couple a times my crappy dsl when down. Always seemed when you really really need it it might not be available. So now I keep the paper copy current like the old days.
