No ladybugs but the ticks have exploded over the last 3-4 weeks. After leaf blowing for 3 hours I came in and all clothes went right into the wash. I know a few people with Lime disease and it doesnt sound like any fun at all.

edit-Oh and the ACORNS this year

Mean Deer, which means ticks, the boss had it (Lyme) a few years ago, now if she gets one of the ticks it is three days of anti's.

ETA:Cleaned the garage and did a recycle and bottle return run.

Cyclone rake leaf vac. has been vibrating its parts off the last few time I used it. Believe I found the culprit today, the blower /mulcher assy. appears to have spun on the hub and is now off balance. Will need to order a new part from the factory in Conn. In the mean time I borrowed back my 8 hp. blower from my bud and blew a bunch of leaves into the woods and had a pretty good burn going yesterday afternoon and today before it started pouring. Breaking the law, breaking the law. But I don't have much of an option if leaf vac is down. The leaves were so thick in the back that they had to go somewhere.

Hunted this morning early and saw nothing but squirrels and chippers. BIL saw a good buck in his yard as he was sipping coffee. I've got the next 2 weekends off so hunting here I come.

Huh, we don't have any acorns. I mean like, the dentist office that I work in at nights had 4 or 5 acorns in the parking lot a couple of weeks ago and that was it. Haven't seen any on the roads I travel or their ditches. Not a one in my area. No berries, now no nuts. The wildlife I see is skinny going into the colder months - even the squirrels who will eat just about anything. If we have a hard winter, there will be a high die-off rate of all kinds of animals :(

My area had a dry summer but not as bad as southern NH. Maybe that has something to do with it? The acorns numbers are crazy high

Agreed on the wildlife impact :(

38* when I got up this morning. Left for work at my usual 4:45am and half way there realized it was Halloween and that I had actually dressed up could enter the costume contest at work (I usually go as my evil twin, but somehow people don't see the difference :D). I know I would win if I could bring my main prop inside - but they won't let me. The system is rigged I tell ya!

    Good news

Did a test drive with the big shop vac on the shells

Stuck the suck nozzle in a barrel of shells and flipped the switch.

Took 15 seconds to fill the 16 gallon can on the vac.

Could not plug the hose even by stuffing it right hard into the shells.

Gonna make a plywood round cover that will fit the 55 gallon barrels with about 2 inches extra on the diameter, then glue foam to it to seal it when placed on the top of the drum.

The 55 gallon are the largest container.

Gonna place two fittings in the ply wood.

One right in the center and one slightly offset.

The center will connect to the suction hose and the other will connect to the vacuum.

Will add a plastic viewing window to see when the thing is full.

No need to hack up the shop vac either and the plywood gizmo can hang on the wall in the basement.

    Very cheap conversion aparatus.

Weirding out because there is extra money in my checking account. Yeah, I know, others would love to have that problem, but I keep everything tight money-wise, so can't figure out what happened. I was actually checking my account to see if I needed to transfer $100 into it until my night job check hits tomorrow. I don't like finding I have several hundred more in there than I expect - means there is a bill I didn't pay or a check out there that hasn't been cashed that I have forgotten about. Of course the checkbook is at home, so can't try figure it out until about 10 tonight. ARRGGHH!

I use to balance my checkbook to the penny and hunt down any difference. Now with everything online, I dont bother as I can monitor it so much easier on the PC at home-no, I dont do "apps".

That being said, there were several times that I had more money in my account than my checkbook stated. Most times it was back to balancing the following month. My ex use to work as a teller and she told me of all kinds of transactions that might happen in error and then be fixed without you seeing it on any statement-paper or online.

There were 2 instances where the overage never went away. I just carried that as a "known difference" for a few months and then it was mine.

good for you. Shop vacs sure have a lot of uses. I am confident you will rig something up so you won't have to transfer the pellets. Can be done!

Same here. Paper checks are used maybe once or twice a year. Once for pellet delivery and maybe one or two for niece/nephew birthday gifts that are being mailed.
