Still fixing up hanging baskets. We have a lot of them. That is one place I can grow things the slugs can't get to. I have tomatoes in buckets and some other plants. Lots of planters with a few to finish up with. Still have a couple of shrubs to set in the ground. Also a bunch of new perennials. Need to set out some ant bait. Seems to be a bumper crop of ants this year. Pole beans and peas already starting to climb the fencing and nets I put up last weekend. The tomatoes planted in the ground seem to be a bit slow. I think that is because of the cool weather. broccoli plants are a foot high. Lettuce chard and spinach are just getting going. Peppers are setting on flowers. Really nice to have a garden again. Couldn't have done it without the help of the kids.

We are having another birthday party for the grandkids. This one is for the 7 yr. old who lives here. Lots of family coming. Having a BBQ and who ever wants to play the disc course. Even though it is cool, the kids went down the slide into the kiddy pool. Looks like they were having fun. Windy, so no pit fire. but everyone is having a good time. Would be nice to see it warm up above 70, but I should be grateful for the sun.

My thoughts and prayers going out to all victims, survivors, family and friends of 2 deadly nights in Orlando. :tears:

It is very windy here also. We had to put the umbrellas down, One had started to go airborn, but I caught it as it was lifting out of the table. Then there was a lot of gusting and the crackling sound of wood breaking. I looked up and saw the top of one of the maples lifting away . It could have done a lot of damage, but it fell right where there wasn't anything. Cars all around it from the party, but none got hit. It really was the only place it could go without damaging something. So tomorrow, we have to access the situation and see how at risk the rest of the tree is.
I cautioned the kids to stay away from the oaks. They have some dead limbs in them and this wind just might clean a few of them off.

Snow level down to 4000 ft by Tuesday.

I can see that we may be needing to build a fire soon.

Mount Washington auto road always goes to "bikes only" on Monday and Thursday during bike week (Thursday). Last I saw (yesterday), they had just gotten a bunch of snow/ice. Actually, the auto road may be closed all day with these winds - 90 mph winds are not good for any vehicle, and right now they are saying it is closed to motorcycles but the guided bus tours are still on.

Early July, 2014 on Mt Washington summit. Cold and in the clouds, but the cloud cover lifted just enough while we traversed over to the Jewell trail for the decent to the Cog Railway parking lot.

A few day later the weather was so nice we decided to climb Jefferson via the notch. This is the view from Jefferson at about 5000 feet

Summit of Jefferson that day.... After climbing Monroe, Washington, and Clay on the planned trip (we stayed two nights at Lakes of the Clouds AMC hut) and then climbing Jefferson on the steep Caps Ridge trail, I'm plumb wore out!!
