Yesterday was pretty boring, with ripping out more carpet, pad, tack strips and then digging out the staples and such.

MORE moving of furniture and other stuff.

Finally got some flooring laid late in the afternoon/evening.

Today, hopefully will see a bit more progress.

The pile of odd pieces that were cut for the original install is dwindling now and hopefully will be pretty much gone by the time the last of the flooring is done.

Here are a few pix taken this morning.

The cut in around the stove hearth pad will take a little time and tedium to get a good fit, but is not too tough.

Sorting through the odd pieces will provide a lot of whats needed to get the area between the wall and the stove pad (Left of stove) and the starter pieces to the right of the stove.

Looks like there will be a fair amount of materials left over after we're done.

Looking forward to seeing this project wrapped up.

Some years ago this would have been a 3 day project from start to finish, ahhhh, now it's a major thing to just get down on the floor. :picard:

Hope you are able to figure that one out. How do you deposit a check that has less money in it than stated? Do you have a tax service or accountant that looks this over for you?

I think you are going to be so much happier with the carpet out of there. The only positive thing about carpet is that it is warmer on the feet and does cut room noise down. Wood, or solid floors are so much more easy to keep clean, keep the dust and other stuff under better control.

i grew up in a cape with hardwood floors built in the 50's, and fir upstairs in the bedrooms. then the 70's came and carpet was all the rage. ripped it out of my second house (built by Cheapo Builders Inc. in 78) after about 10 years and installed hardwood. had to give that house to the ex as part of the terms of my parole. (best deal I ever made!):thumbs:built my current home myself with a few hand picked contractors in 98-99. ALL hardwood and ceramic tile in the baths and kitchen. area rugs where needed. 17 years later I wouldn't change a thing. it still looks great! of course, we take off our shoes in the garage. most guests do as well, although we are not the gestapo about it. pricey, but well worth it!

    Happy Bday Dex

    Yesterday was another slog.

    Got a fair amount done.

Sadly the most time consuming part is ripping out the old carpet.

I got the corner around the Little Whit finished.

Tedious thing fitting the Pergo around the Hearth pad.

I left the carpet and pad under the hearth as it is a pain to remove and it keeps transmitted noise much lower.

This allows carefully slipping the Pergo under the hearth after cutting the foam carpet pad back a little.

    **More like chew it out**

Going to use black silicone around the hearth to Pergo joint as the hearth's edge is black.

Still in the musical furniture mode. Arrrrrrgh

There is about a 7 foot by 8 foot section of carpet still remaining to come out.

This area also has the Quad 1000 in the corner to work around.

    Gittinerdone (Slowly)

Gonna be nice to be able to move on to the painting and nailing in the baseboard.

    Ahh yesssss, HOME IMPROVEMENT
