It was in the high 30's that day and sunny with no wind. Was plenty warm - I wouldn't have shed clothing if not - I hate being cold.

High of -4* heading back down to -22* Had lunch with friends that was great, came back and had to do chores. That wasn't so great the wind was a bit nippy at -9*. Pellet stove rooms at 70 the kitchen with the wood stove is 85. She's baking with it, I'm heating up water for the chickens and horses.

    What a day

Helped the Mrs at the store all morning. Delivered furniture for her all afternoon. THEN

On the coldest day of the year .. the windiest day of the year

Got about 2 miles from home and something popped in the burb. It felt like a large hole in the road. Slowed down checked the rear view saw nothing so continued. Half mile later another pop like a bigger bump and the beast began coasting like it was in neutral. Never had a whisper of trouble with the tranny before. Coasted to the side got out, checked underneath, checked the engine compartment, nothing. Restarted and backed up a bit with no issue, put into drive a carefully, slowly began the last mile and half home. About a mile away a left onto my road and CRASH

I look out my side window just in time to see my rear wheel with axle attached slide on by.

Had her flat bedded to my brothers shop because he has a lift in the service barn, (after walking the last mile in zero degrees weather and 20 - 25 MPH winds because I left the cell in the shops cube truck).

Hoping the c-clip let loose and the rear end is not a mess.

Called the local salvage yard and lucky for me they have a couple of matching burbs to rip parts from in worse case scenario.

Upset a bit about my beast but more so about the fridgid frickin walk and the carelessness of forgetting the cell

    :headbang:  :(

Well, when it ain't one thing it's 12.

Sitting here on the puter about 2 hours ago and I here the dryer start, stop, start, stop and again it goes.

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. ?????????????????

Went to investigate I get informed that the dryer will not shut off when the door is shut it runs no matter what.

    ARRRGGGGGGH

    Not happy, not even.

Rip the control panel out and just happen to have a spare (last one too)

23 year old Amana dryer with a touch pad control that's been touched waaaaaay tooooooo many times.

Getting too old to justify a new set at the prices they go for these days.

Drooled over the new ones at the depot and Lowes recently, but that ain't gonna happen. Not in this lifetime.

    CRAIGS LIST :D

Found a near new set that the folks moved and theirs were new and the new house has a new set.

    $395 pair, negotiable, will deliver.

About 15 miles from the ranch.

    Will know Monday

    Gawd, what a bummer.

    Always something. Eh

Happened on a left turn-probably should have bought a house on the street to the right, he might have made it home :D

In all reality oldspartantrader , that really does suck. Good luck and thankfully there are some used options nearby and a brother with a lift in a hopefully heated barn.

I guess I could have come home on the South Road instead of the North Rd.

Not really to freaked cause I know how lucky I was. Did a 40 mile each way trip yesterday in the beast on the interstate -- 60 - 65MPH. THAT would have been a tragedy for ME.

Most likely not a difficult fix, just time consuming. Brothers work bay does have heat to go with the lift.

With a few pops in me I can actually laugh a bit as I remember the wheel with axle attached skip on by. Seems the rear wheel was in a bigger rush to get home than the rest of the burb.
