We took out a perfectly good oil hot air furnace and put in a new gas unit that is mounted on the wall and vented directly outside and uses outside air for combustion. 95% efficient.

Well, I got home to find that he did not have to replace the unit. I dont know exactly what he did as I havnt been able to talk with him yet. If nothing else, it bought me some time since I would prefer to replace the boiler with a direct vent type unit using outside air and not have a power vent at all.

I think Scooby snacks are bigger

Corporate replied to me said they were sorry I was unhappy and pushed it on the local store, which I thought was weird.....at least to me.

Yes it was, you got piddle poor material service in that you were shorted. The customer service at that location sucked, makes no difference if the sever was polite, fast, or whatever.

I have yet to run them through the Enerzone. With these temps? I only run the pellet furnace. The Enerzone is in case the furnace needs work and for the shoulder seasons. But based on the temps (ash and heat is much better than the Presto Logs I have been burning!) I have been getting and the ash in the firebox? They are a Great pellet for the price!! At $199 a ton!!! I'm so excited!! If I buy 8 ton, that saves $60 a ton over the Sets. That's $480 in savings!!

Last night I got a call I had been hoping for - I will be starting a part time job tomorrow night (after I get home from my full time job). It is within a mile or two of my house cleaning offices (11 hours in a chair is enough - I'll be pushing them out of my way instead), and is only during weeknights.

I have had a lot of unexpected bills this last year; Emergency room/tests/other medical (would be nice if they ever figured out the issue, but they just figured out how to make the most money while maxing out my 6k deductible :(), the Patriot dying prematurely so now I have a car payment (plus the down payment I made), buying a spare car etc. :emptywallet::emptywallet::emptywallet:. Plus I was already putting a lot of money into my house, so extra income is welcome :makeitrain".

I've always worked lots of hours, 2 jobs, F/T job and college etc., so I know what I'm in for. I'm actually hoping to be able to increase my 401(k) contribution soon so I can start catching back up with what I had to take out from the divorce. It all depends on how many hours I get per week; no promises from my new employer yet - I'm sure he is waiting to see how training goes and if I stick with it before coughing up hours.

There is the first hurdle in the process.

    • Manufacture-current is Weil Mclain boiler and Beckett burner have been extremely reliable with no breakdowns in 21 years
    • Basic power vent required type like I have had since 1994 that has done me well
    • More expensive direct vent type if it can be done with my setup (basement so there is vertical rise, so that should be OK)---this would be negated to an extent by not needed a new power vent
    • If direct venting, should I consider a flue or chimney?
    • Another tank less hot water boiler or add an external heater-this has really been the repair area where I have replaced the hot water coil once at 10 years and it is on its way out again by not providing good hot water for showers while the 2 heat zones are called upon at the same time. Leaning towards external tank
    • Higher efficiency model that has computer controls over the basic 84% efficient type I have now-Question here is how long is the Return On Investment and also taking into consideration the possible cost of computer modules failing over life of the unit.
More issues to come. but hopefully I can get this done on My Time and not the old Equipment's time
