And I am something special living in the middle of no where in wyoming? Ha!! Whatever you call yourself I appreciate the input and WOW you have an incredible memory!! The good news is, the oak is 4", manual specified 3" which I bought and had here, but when the stove arrived it did not fit so I ordered the 4" :)

I haven't put enough bags through it for a deep clean, hell I haven't burned a half ton yet.

Can't blame you for heating via other methods. I would too, if my other method wasn't propane.

Cleaned up the driveway from about 5 inches of heavy white chit. Got it down to pavement then the wind blew the snow from the trees and covered the wet driveway with a good coating. Iced up before I could scrape it up. Hopefully the next few days are warm enough to melt it off before the cold really hits after Mon or Tues. This is the first time in many years that I have had to sand the driveway several times. Typical of an E Nino winter though

Great. My local agent just switched my insurance from Concord Group to Hanover because Concord Group jacked their prices. I hope I don't hit anything.

I was asking because I clean the upper half of my stove every week and the lower half every other week. If I should go 2 weeks without cleaning the upper half, I can see a difference in the heat output of the unit.

Well, I did put a bag in each hopper last night - but I worry since I didn't fill the extensions too. Have the boiler's thermostat set for 62* just in case, so not a huge catastrophy if the stoves shut off for some reason.

And, oh, I blame the Ex for not filling the stoves properly :D

After looking at my options for a hotel room - with elections next week the 3.5 star rooms were going for $200-350 :bug:, and the closest one was about 10 miles away - no thank you!

The roads around work were looking pretty good, so I decided to quit being a chicken and drive home. Not too bad until I got to 149 - and even that was okay with no traffic until the last mile. Took me about and hour and 15 minutes for my normal 40-45 minute drive, but I got home safe.

Got Birdie fed (and the cats got canned, but they had plenty of kibble anyway), checked the gas in the snowblower (still had some from last storm), and got the driveway done. There was actually less snow here than at work. It was nice and light. I even got the Focus to muscle thru the berm at the end of the driveway so was able to park it in the garage and out of the way of the snow removal. Oh, and I called the mechanic and asked if I could have my 7 am inspection appointment back. They were pretty cool and said they never took me off the list in case I did make it in .

Latest on Explorer after the accident: Apparently the front bumper got some damage - neither I, nor anyone else that lookedat it saw it (heck, no one could believe I was hit by looking at it), but the adjuster saw something not right so authorized a new bumper, painted to match. Also authorized de-rimming the tire to pull out the plastic parts from her car that were jammed between the tire and rim, remounting and balancing, and a 4 wheel alignment. The alignment will help them determine if any other damage was done, so waiting on word about that. Nothing else seems amiss the last I talked to them.

Hopefully they got all the tire work and alignment done today (without any additional issues cropping up) and I can bring it home until the new bumper comes in. I'll find out tomorrow since I'm taking the car to the same place for inspection and general maintenance (oil, tire rotation and scheduled checks).

I figure if I get t bring it home tomorrow, we won't get the forecasted snow next week. If not, then we'll get at least what is presently forecasted. Ah well, I have more confidence in the car after getting this first "bonding experience" out of the way. Sure am glad I stuck to my guns and only looked at manual transmissions - makes downhill, slick roads easier to navigate!

Happy you got home safe bogieb. Front wheel drive and good tires will usually get you home in moderate /light snow. Hope you get the Explorer so we won't get any snow next week. :D
