Made it back home after being in Wisconsin since Sunday for work. Took the Lake Express ferry from Milwaukee to Muskegon. That was much more relaxing than driving through Chicago during rush hour. It was a nice night on the lake - barely any waves, but dang, it was cold.....

Anything that burns oil to produce heat, in my case the forced hot water heating system that also produces my hot water.

Well my boiler is fine and at least I didn't scare poor Bob this time.

I also got the first coat of paint on the wall that will shortly become unreachable because of my pellet stash, hopefully it will be dry this morning so I can do the second coat.

Let's see I have the stove all set, the boiler all set, and am working on the larder. I might be making progress.

So jtakeman found it a little nippy. I sure hope that when his boss goes to start the heating system it will work or it is skillet time for him .

I test fired the stove today to make sure the gremlins didn't mess around during the summer. Fired right up! Guess I am ready for fall. It can take its time getting here, but may have already arrived. Are we sure it's August???

Low 50's tonight here, 40's in the mountains. High of 67 today. I'm nervous about what's to come.

I get my pellet delivery Tuesday morning. My boiler was serviced yesterday. Still got to work on the food larder. But I have a full tank of dino juice and two ton plus to start the season with.

We can make it, I think.

Usually it is #2 oil, kerosene is also used in some heating systems and is also known as #1 oil.

#2 and diesel are roughly equivalent. You can have issues (some of which are extremely dangerous) using the wrong grade of fuel oil in a heating system.

Propane is also a refined crude oil product.

Good info smokey. Was dumbfounded when I moved out here and nowbody knew what heating oil was.Can be had cheaply in the kalispell/libby area, comes from west coast. If I could get anthracite I would jump on it.They still sell kerosene out here in the hardware stores 4 to 8 dollars a gallon, but they also sell firewood 5 sticks in a bundle for 5 dollars? Also most people do not realise jet fuel is kerosene, not some high power gasoline gasoline.Buy the way I used to hunt deer at haymock lake,up your way, years ago.Bob
