My Kenmore front end loader has broken a few times. I know nothing about them, but with some help from some guys on a repair forum and youtube, parts from amazon and I am back up and running. One time cost me about $125 in parts. Would have been a $400+ repair if the service had responded. Truth of the matter is if you get 8 to 10 yes from them, you are doing good. I'm past that but only because I am too cheap to ditch them so long as I can fix them. My next set will be very basic. The least features, the better. There are only two older folks here. No need for "features" all I want is clean.

True-actual forecast around here is 4-8" and the real truth is the lower snow amounts only means more sleet/ice than snow. I'll take the higher snow amount over that

I believe cleanfire has a 12ish year old unit. That being the case, it all depends on what is wrong and if you can DIY. I took apart my 18 year old top loader man times-not that hard. If he is looking at 350.00 for labor (if I read that right), IMO that alone puts you into replacement mode with the sales going on right now.

I use this site quite a bit

Need to leave shortly to drive the wife to work. The snow has turned to sleet and freezing rain. I promised her years ago I would drive her to work during bad weather, as part of the deal to move out here in the wilderness. :picard:

I made the same promise when I retired:picard:Over here, the teachers have to go in even if it's a snow day for children/buses:doh: No consideration for peoples lives just so the school becomes a babysitting service:loco:

Still 14 degrees and sleeting. Roads were tough when we left but cleaning up nice now. Had to stop for the wife on the way home at the hardware store, they never plowed their parking lot, my four wheel drive was earning it's keep.

One of the snow jockey's between plow jobs was coming from the opposite direction as I was exiting a curve, he was obviously going too fast, and yep, he slid off the road into the field. Four wheel drive gets you going, it doesn't help you think about the consequences. To be young and stupid again...

Same here, woke up to about 1/2 inch of white chit on the ground. It has already switched over to rain and the temps are supposed to get up to lower 40s, so it should be gone soon.

Glad you didn't get taken out by that recklessness. I've driven for years, had my share of mishaps, but never struck another vehical. Common event here is while snow changes over to freezing rain. Fender benders all over the place until the roads gets sanded. Still snowing here, but the change over is predicted.

3-4 inches of snow here but has been sleeting since I got up at 7am, so I dont know when the changeover happened. It wasnt doing anything when I went to bed after midnight, so it must have been snowing pretty good to have what we do on the ground seeing that the ground is still fairly warm for this time of year.

Right now, the sleet is coming down heavy-looks like rain, but its not.

Me too G, I was gonna slide down the hill and go to DMV to renew my license. Having second thought now.

We've had sleet, Turned to ice and then snow. Now it looks like sleet again. Maybe about an inch of slop so far. But they don't seem to be in a hurry to plow and sand the side roads today. Maybe after a nap and lunch??

My honey is at work in Newburyport Mass and said that Kittery Maine had way more snow than she thought they would get and Berwick had more than they do. Hihgways were tough and people were driving way too fast for conditions. She just put the truck into auto/4wd mode, kept the speed down and stayed in the unplowed lane as that had better traction in the sleeting conditions.

Its times like this that she insists on staying in a full size truck-I test drove that Avalanche for her in a snow storm and it stuck to the road like glue . We showed up at the Nissan dealership that had this Chevy truck listed and the sales people were cleaning cars, one lucky guy got a sale that day and she got a great deal on a 2 year old truck

    Sounds like a plan J !!

My Weather Underground in the sig is showing snow...NOT !! Still heavy sleet

Just checked-there is about 3 inches of snow under the sleet in the yard and 5 inches on the front stairs. It may melt down a bit more due to the warm ground

Here is our mess right now-not many vehicles out there and the plow/sander just went by. Luckily its not freezing rain so nothing is sticking to the trees-just hope it stays that way.
