Did that yesterday afternoon /evening and although I went to 6 stores I managed to not step into a mall. I can handle the busy season but a mall right now would drive me over the edge. :hair:

Down to 1 last gift for my honey and that may very well be a certificate to her favorite shoe store. I can pick out some western boots or something that she would like, but why not let her pick out what she really wants? I am generally good at remembering her looking at something in particular that she wants for footwear and then going back to get it, but no such luck lately.

My knees hurt just thinking about replacing a floor. Unfortunately I think there is some more knee repair work in my future, maybe even replacement :headbang:

Many years ago (at least 25 years) , I was on 93 in northern Mass heading to Nh for a Sunday packy run (Mass blue laws back then). I was driving a new Mazda RX7 turbo at the time and she cruised at 120 like it wasnt even moving. I blew by an unmarked State Police doing somewhere around 105-110 mph but saw the (then unlit) lights in the back deck. I pulled over before he even lit the blues. Being very cordial to the officer, he was cool and not an a-hole about it. In fact he was joking around. He gave me a 50 dollar ticket, written up at 65 MPH in a 55 zone and advised me to trade in the car for a Ford Escort

Come to find out from a buddy of mine that was "in the same business", he was going to only give me a warning because of the way I cooperated with him, but they dont like it when you have radar detectors-so he gave me the smallest ticket he could.

I contested the ticket and the damdest thing happened. He did not show up and the ticket was dismissed

Back then, being young and invincible I had no problem driving fast-I had that RX7 up to 152 once to see how fast it could go-it was still picking up speed. Today, I know what pain can mean and what can happen at those speeds, plus I like my auto insurance under 550.00/year and not what it use to be-I generally keep it 80 or below and even that is rare these days.

Back when I was a young little creature a friend had a buddy with a real honest to goodness Shelby 427 Cobra (Not the fake Mustang stuff)

I got to drive that little beast for a trip up the Columbia River Highway one late afternoon.

We screamed out of Troutdale heading east towards The Dalles.

The old guy who owned the car was on me hard to "Drive the thing like it was meant to be driven"

Lets just say that was one very quick trip up to The Dalles and back.

Those cars would easily make 160 outta the box, and this one had been well loved with go fast goodies.

    A bygone era.

I will never forget that little treat.

Yesterday, I went to my local Harley dealer then went to the other HD. I picked up some more FSU's to mix with the ThermaGlo'sm gasket material to replace the p61a's door gasket, and then I saw it. My heart skipped a beat - can it really be? Why yes, it is a Dremel Saw Max for $10 off. And, the 9 piece wheel set was $7 off.

On my cart those two went. When I got to the register, the cashier, an older lady, thanked me for turning one of the bags over so she could get to the bar code. No problem I said, I try to make things easy. She then asked if I wanted the 2 year warrantee for the Dremel.

"How Much," I asked. $12 was the reply. No thank you I said.

And then she said some magic words in a hushed tone, "I can give it to you for free." Oh? that would be great! She said that she would do this for me since I was so nice in turning the bag over for her. By the time all was said and done - she logged in the warrantee price, then somehow it took $14 off the total. Neither of us argued with that. And hey, I still got my 5% discount on top of all that.

So, I got the Dremel Ultra-Saw, 9 piece wheel kit, and 2 year warrantee for ~$95 - less than what the Dremel normally goes for. Hey, sometimes it pays to be nice :D

Much the same here: I would rather she picked out something she really likes / would otherwise not get, so it's cool with her. Plus the "post-Holiday shopping event" turns into a full day affair: lunch before, and dinner after, that's part of the "game", and fun of it.

Really nice weekend with my niece. She came to stay with us for the weekend, and we made some Christmas sugar cookies with her. No matter how bad your feeling kids sure have a way to put a smile on your face!

You have 6 cats! I do also. Took me a while to master an easy clean litter box system, and to buy the right product so I don't smell kitty. The only big issue I have is the cat hair. My cats are all Himalayans with huge amounts of hair which seems to stick to everything.

I have one cat and the cat box is too much work. Which one do you have?

I really like the looks of that work bench. I lost mine when we did the rebuild this past summer. But, when I did have it I kept a piece of hardbord on the top. That took all the beating. When it became rough or unsightly, I just fliped it over or change it for another one. That kept the dings, spills and stains in check. You said you are adding locking wheels. Be careful about the height. Too high and you will have your arms a the wrong angle when working on things which increases errors and fatigue. Kitchen counter top height is about right. That is a nice looking workbench. It should last you as long as you want it.

Only things that I don't care for, but can live with:
    1. The top has several holes for placing holding wood pegs and anvil pegs and such. This is called a woodworkers table, so I guess there is a reason they would be needed. I'm using one rod to hold the paper towels in place.
    2. The top is really nice wood. That is not the problem, the problem isn't it really doesn't have much finish, so will be damaged easily. I'll either get some plexiglass/lexan to put on top, or shellac the snot out of it. Either way, a minor inconvenience.
    3. I would think this bench would normally end up in a basement or garage. There are no feet to keep the nicely shaped wooden supports off the concrete floor. That's okay since I'm planning on casters anyway, but still . . .
It is a really nice bench for the money, sturdy and good looking. Is it made for a car mechanic to put engines on? No, but it will hold several hundred pounds on the top (they rate at 250, which seems really low to me compared to how sturdy it feels to me), so is plenty strong enough. The bottom shelf seems a little lightweight, but obviously it is holding several boxes of power tools without any issues. Oh, and a lot of it is real wood

Actually I'm worried about the bench not being high enough. It is way too low as it is, and much lower than my old bench - which I loved for its height. You are correct, it is about kitchen counter height; since I always stand, I'll only have a horrible back ache from all the stooping and bending I would have to do. But, you have a really good point for others who may consider doing such a thing.

and your mention of using hardwood to cover the top is probably better than than what I originally thought of (plexi/lexan), so I will think hard on that!

I use the rolling litter box. You and view its use on youtube. Also I get [IMG] upload_2015-12-20_14-36-2.png What I like about this box is no digging or scraping, I sit in a chair while I change three of them. I just hook the opening with my cane, pull it out from under a table in the bathroom, roll it over, tap the bottom return it upright then empty the drawer into a lined pail. replace the amount removed with fresh litter. I pour it into the drawer so I can see how much, then dump the drawer in the cat access to the box. Put the drawer back in and push it back under the table. I keep a table cloth on the table so I don't even see the boxes. I will admit that I run a pet air purifier which keeps air born dust and odors down. I bet I have tried a dozen systems, even the self cleaning motorized ones, but this one is the best. Make sure you use a good clumping litter. Some of the so called scoop able ones useless. It has to clump for this system to work.

Bogieb, it is hardboard, not hardwood. It is a fiber composite that is light and easy to use. The surface is very hard. Often use for making pegboard. Masonite is a brand of hardboard. It is thin, about 1/8 to 1/4 in. thickness.

I am happy to hear that works for you. I was going to order that exact one but was hesitant. Now I will give it a shot. Thanks!
