Yep, I put all 4 on my Fusion. I had them before on a fwd sable. Quieter ride than the Michelin Xice I had on this car the last few seasons. Better in the wet too. Xice were slightly better in the snow, Pretty equal in the icy stuff. Kicker is they are about 2/3 the cost of the michelins so to me it was an easy choice.

    Michelin were $140 ish

    Generals were $90

Rob, if you are out in all weather like I am and travel alot think about Blizzak ice tires. Before going over to 4 wheel drive that is all I used during the winter months. Those tires got me through everything including my trip to and from work during the ice storm of 97. Back then I traveled from Alton to Salem daily with Rte 28 being a royal PITA. Only drawback is that they will last only 1-2 seasons as the spongey rubber is great for ice traction but not for wear.

Then again, I havnt used snow tires since 2000 when I bought a Subaru, so I am sure that there are many others out there just as good and maybe better wear.

I thought about em to G, But they were out of my size at the time. Price was about $112/tire for the blizzaks.

I remember when we only had a choice or 2(Blizzak being the innovators), But lately there have been some others that joined the fun. Yokohama has the Ice guard, Hanook I*Pike and Conti has the Winter Contact. And all right in the Blizzak price range. Blizzak's WS80 still have some of the highest ratings and owner loyalty.

I also thought about studs. But I do so much highway I didn't want all the extra noise. I did get better gas mileage with the Michelins. Dropped over a mile per gallon with the Generals. Guess the extra grip has a down fall.

Stopped at Walmart in Newington last night and picked up 10 bags of MWP. $5 per bag-getting better but still a ways to go. They had far more Pennington than MWP.

Whats the latest word on Pennington?

I picked up a set of Blizzaks a couple years ago along with a set of boneyard steel wheels and Chinese e-bay wheel covers. I swap those rims on the Cruze when sn*w comes. They've worn surprisingly well. The first winter I had them (13/14) there was very little dry pavement to drive on, so that helped. Last year there was a bit less sn*w and I had them in for a bit over 4000 miles. I'm hoping to get another two seasons out of them, which would put me right around 20,000 miles. I picked up a TPMS relearn tool so I can swap them on and off at will.

I still have the 'summer' tires on. No sign of the white stuff in sight for the next couple weeks.

Ok, have come to the conclusion this is really futile trying to do anything w/ tires over the phone..

My head is still spinning from rapid-fire conversation / the array of tire choices presented. I hung up the phone and went "Huh? What just happened?"

This may require actually visiting a store (sober and clear-headed) to get done. :picard:

I'm thinking that's -exactly- what I'll need to do here also 343amc - appreciate the info, Thanks.

The Camry has a full-size spare in it now, so at least for the 'immediate' term, I'll need (1) more steel wheel to get both front tires swapped out, that will get the immediate need addressed / give me a little breathing room. I don't like 'piece-mealing' this stuff, it's a PITA ..

And it's the wife's ride. Skillet Bashing is a given, whatever I end up doing. :heidi:

It's too nice of a day outside here - gotta go hide out in the woodshed for awhile and drink, um I mean think, on this.

    See ya'll later.
