I bought my house in 2001. I couldnt decide whether to rip out the kitchen or live with what was there. This house was a 'fixer-upper' in every sense of the word. The old stuff needed to go. I was trying to avoid the extra work.

Long story short, one night after drinking a lot of beer, out came the sledge hammer and out came the old cabinets.

I was single then, so quick alcohol induced decisions were still perfectly acceptable. :)

That might work well too - and may be what I used last year (or maybe not, my memory lasts about 15 seconds most times). All I know is I didn't even have to let it soak - spray a section, run the scraper under the edge and just start pulling. As long as it is wet, the glue just lets go (and being directly in line with the pellet stove air stream, it dried quickly, but a quick re-squirt took care of that). Heck, I could have run a wooden paint stirrer under there if the edge was thin enough. Also, since it was patchwork where in a lot of places there was just glue left, I sprayed sections that I thought were clean, and the glue was highlighted as yellowish stains on the wall so I knew where to scrape off.

I don't know how it would work on newer glues; the wall paper in this house has to have been here 30-40 years (I think the exact mural scene was popular in the late 70's, early 80's). And although vinegar will help neutralize any odors trapped under there, the fabric softener would leave a nice scent. It's always nice to have alternatives too!

Yeah, I probably should have passed on this 1960 fixer (or at least got the price down a lot more if I had known about a few of the issues I've run into). Ah well, the smashing stuff has been good therapy and got me thru my darkest days. And there will be lots of therapy in the future as the kitchen will be tackled at some point.

I seem to remember a certain forum member from Wisconsin laughing it up and rubbin' it in how he didn't have any snow or cold temps last winter, while the eastern US suffered........there IS justice in this world.
    :p It's 50* here and sunny.

I dubbed around most of the day. CleanFire came by to pick up the flat dolly he had left me when he helped pick up the P43 last spring. In the process he helped me move the bathroom counter out of the garage and into the basement and he left presents! I don't know which I value more, the FHC sticker or the bag of La Cretes . The pellets will be saved until a really cold day, along with my one bag of Vermont's from last year.

Hooked up the P43 with an inline thermostat, which is in another room from the stove. I originally used the thermostat with the Hastings with good results, so we'll see how it works with the Harman.
Balanced the checkbook, which hasn't been done in 3 months. Looks like I still have money in the bank, so I didn't' screw it up too bad between reconciles :dex:.

Put a chicken carcass in the crockpot to make chicken stock. When it is done will ladle out the bones then add veggies and either pepperoni or hamburger - or maybe both - and let it simmer away for several hours.

After 4 days off work, tomorrow will seem to go on forever I'm sure, but at least it is a short week, so I have that to look forward to .
